Panthalassa (Pan-thuh-LAH-suh) is named after the largest ocean to ever exist. It surrounded the supercontinent, Pangaea, at a time when fossil fuels were being made. The name suggests that the Earth can create planetary-scale energy once again. From Greek PAN "all" + THALASSA "sea."
