Job Description:

The Crew Analysis Consultant supports Pilot Analytics by evaluating the operational and financial impacts of Crew Planning and dayof operation decisions. They’ll conduct research and analysis to develop, enhance, and support Crew Planning & Analytics and Air Operations tools, reporting, and data processes. They’ll partner closely with Crew Planning, Crew Scheduling, FP&A, Network Planning, the NOC, and other operational Teams to provide insights that support business decisions and operational performance. The Crew Analysis Consultant leverages strong analytical, technical, and communication skills to translate complex data into actionable recommendations and effectively present findings to Team members and Leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the research and analysis of trends, and the development of new processes, tools and reports to support greater efficiency for Crew Planning and Scheduling

  • Use technology skills (SQL, Alteryx, Python, R, Tableau, Big Data Concepts) and business knowledge to provide answers to business requests.

  • Partner with technology and other business areas to develop, improve, maintain and correct deficiencies on software and data sources

  • Develop, improve and maintain predictive models and forecasting tools

  • Facilitate technical guidance on principles and topics to Crew Planning, Scheduling, Labor Relations, Finance and other departments across the company

  • Conduct analysis on proposed work rule changes and supports Labor Relations, Finance and the People Department with crew related data

  • Drive operational and cost improvements for staffing, crew pairings, daily open time assignment, and irregular operations management

  • Utilize appropriate data management procedures including privacy standards

  • Create and deliver presentations to Company Leaders, Employees, and Unions

  • Interface with and support Leaders in Crew Planning, Scheduling, Training, and other departmental Employees on a daily basis

  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the Air Operations organization, philosophies, and procedures

  • Ability to make decisions in an ambiguous environment

  • Ability to lead projects and serve as subject matter expert

  • Ability to work under pressure, deadlines and juggle multiple tasks working as a team player with little supervision

  • Ability to interpret data, draw implications and adjust the analysis approach as required

  • Ability to train and lead junior team members on data, tools, techniques and business knowledge

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, entrepreneurialism and creativity

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex principles, work rules and processes to all audiences both verbal and in writing

  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations to large audiences including Senior Leadership and Union Leaders

  • Ability to comprehend and manage optimization software, interpret results, and create iterative processes for improvement

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with Customers, peers and Leaders while taking ownership of individual and Team deliverables

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:

    • Data collection, analysis, and presentation

    • Scheduling, planning, or operational research analysis

    • SQL (Oracle, Teradata, PostgreSQL)

    • Tableau or other data visualization software

    • Python, R or other related data analysis resources

  • Preferred: Experience in Analytical tools like Alteryx
  • Preferred: Experience in coding languages like Redshift and SQL
  • Preferred: Crew or airline knowledge 

Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information

  • Air travel with frequent overnight stays required

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $108,700 per year to $120,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
