Pay Range: CHF 106,600 - 170,720
Placement within the salary range will vary depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
The Role
The Director, Operations is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution and mid-term strategy of Lunaphore’s operations team, ensuring reliable delivery of products while driving continuous improvement. This role oversees Supply Chain, Quality Control, Manufacturing, and Manufacturing Engineering. This role will be responsible for prioritizing teams to meet production targets and business priorities. Success in the role will include stabilizing operations to consistently meet the build plan, improving cost structure, and strengthening cross-functional collaboration with QA/RA and R&D. As a key member of the site leadership team, this role ensures operational readiness for both on market product and new product launches. This role will report to the Sr. Director, operations for the division. This role offers the opportunity to shape and scale critical operations while partnering closely with global teams to deliver impactful products.
Key Responsibilities
Lead site operations to deliver against the build plan, ensuring predictable output to high-quality standards
Own and manage Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), identifying and executing cost reduction initiatives
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team, with direct reports ranging from engineers to senior managers
Manage daily operational escalations across operational functions to prevent line-down situations and minimize disruption
Partner closely with cross-functional teams including QA/RA, customer support and R&D to support sustaining operations / customer satisfaction and successful product introductions
Provide subject matter expertise in manufacturing best practices, lean process improvements, and supplier management
Oversee procurement, inventory management, forecasting demand and logistics
Key Supplier managment – picking new suppliers, negotiating supplier agreements, managing materials forecast
Drive operational discipline, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives across all operations functions
Qualifications & Skills
10 years of experience with at least 5 in a key operations leadership position
Experience in ISO 9001 a must, ISO 13485 a plus
Proven experience managing manufacturing teams for capital equipment; experience with life science instruments and reagent manufacturing a plus
Strong background in managing complex supply chains, including long-lead and sole-source components
Experience working across multiple time zones, particularly Europe and North America
Demonstrated success in building a high performing team
Demonstrated success improving processes and scaling operations from early-stage environments to established best practices
Ability to lead through ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and make informed decisions under pressure
Experience with global distribution of product (trade compliance experience a plus)
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders across functions
Commitment to building inclusive teams and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Fluent English is required with French a strong plus
10-15% travel availability (Europe and North America)
