Scientist, Immunoengineering
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our Immunoengineering team in beautiful Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Technical Director, you will develop the vascularization strategy for bioengineered cellular medicines. You will be joining a company committed to developing regenerative medicines that deliver life-changing, functional cures for patients living with serious diseases.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute a variety of complex in vitro and ex vivo vascularization studies to characterize vascular cell behavior, neovascularization, and therapeutic function in response to bioprinted tissues.
- Conduct and optimize relevant assays (e.g., in vitro vascular formation in 2D and 3D, flow cytometry, imaging, immunostaining, multiplex cytokine analysis, vascular cell isolation and culture, cytotoxicity assays) to characterize vascular cell and tissue response profiles.
- Implement experimental strategies defined ensuring high-quality data generation and interpretation to support the development of tissue therapeutics with optimized vascularization and long-term performance.
- Analyze and interpret datasets, identifying key findings and working closely with computational biology and data science teams to extract meaningful conclusions.
- Provide critical, hands-on technical contributions to the integration of vascularization insights into product design, including assessment of biomaterial formulations, cell selection, and delivery strategies.
- Maintain clear, detailed, and rigorous experimental records (e.g., electronic lab notebooks) and contribute to the generation of SOPs and study reports.
- Present experimental findings, conclusions, and recommendations clearly and effectively to cross-functional teams.
- Support regulatory and IP-related deliverables by providing high-quality, scientifically sound data packages.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education & Experience: You hold a PhD in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, or a related scientific discipline and have 0 - 3 years of relevant industry experience within a biotech, pharmaceutical, or scientific R&D environment. A Masters degree with +5 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
- Knowledge: You bring strong hands-on experience in vascular cell research, bioprinting, and vascular regeneration. Proficient in bioassays, flow cytometry, immunostaining, and confocal imaging, with a solid background in analyzing host immune and foreign body responses to implanted biomaterials.
- Intellectually Curious: You have a burning desire to learn more and aren’t afraid to ask questions.
- Problem Solver: You love immersing yourself in difficult technical problems and coming up with solutions that work. You think outside the box and use your experience and intuition to identify when such solutions are realistic.
