Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and hands-on student who is interested in an internship in the field of MEMS sensor characterization and testing. In this position, you will support the characterization and validation of a novel optical MEMS sensor under development for future consumer electronics applications, working in a multidisciplinary laboratory environment.

  • During your internship, you will perform characterization of MEMS sensors using established laboratory test setups with electrical readout.
  • You will support characterization activities by conducting measurements, documenting experimental procedures and results, and contributing to the analysis and discussion of measurement data.
  • Furthermore, you will carry out robustness testing of MEMS devices and contribute to the continuous improvement of characterization methods and laboratory workflows.
  • Depending on project needs, you will also contribute to optical characterization tasks, including operating optical measurement setups, aligning optical paths, and performing spectroscopic measurements.
  • Finally, you will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary development team and gain practical experience in sensor characterization for future consumer electronics applications.

Qualifications

  • Education: studies in the field of Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Microsystems Engineering, Physics, Optics, Photonics or comparable
  • Experience and Knowledge: confident use of MS Office; experience with electrical measurements and data analysis is an advantage; hands-on experience with optical laboratory setups (e.g. optical alignment, spectroscopic measurements, or optical instrumentation) is considered a strong plus; basic programming skills (e.g. Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW) and good knowledge of MS Excel are beneficial
  • Personality and Working Practice: you are a reliable, proactive, and collaborative person who enjoys hands-on experimental work, works independently, and appreciates achieving goals together within an interdisciplinary team
  • Work Routine: your on-site presence is required (working primarily in the laboratory)
  • Enthusiasm: interest in laboratory-based experimental work and sensor characterization
  • Languages: fluent in English; German is an advantage

Additional Information

Start: according to prior agreement
Duration: 6 months

Requirement for this internship is the enrollment at university. Please attach your CV, transcript of records, enrollment certificate, examination regulations and if indicated a valid work and residence permit.
