The Role:
This is an internal-facing, hands-on technical role supporting the field engineering organization through lab infrastructure management, environment automation, and internal tooling development.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and automate lab infrastructure spanning storage clusters, compute nodes, and networking equipment
- Develop and maintain internal tooling including provisioning scripts, CLI utilities, monitoring dashboards, and web portals
- Author and maintain Ansible playbooks and Python-based automation to reduce manual operational overhead
- Deploy and manage containerized services on Docker and Kubernetes in lab environments
- Support VMware/vSphere-based infrastructure including virtual machine lifecycle management and storage integration, with active participation in an ongoing migration to Proxmox
- Assist in reproducing and isolating customer-reported issues within controlled lab environments
- Maintain accurate and current technical documentation
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency with Linux systems administration — networking, storage, filesystems, systemd, and CLI tooling
- Working knowledge of Python sufficient for developing and maintaining automation and internal tooling
- Solid understanding of core networking concepts
- Familiarity with Docker and foundational container operations
- Methodical approach to troubleshooting with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues across multiple layers of the stack
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes distributions (k3s, k8s, or equivalent)
- Exposure to VMware vSphere or ESXi administration; Proxmox experience a plus
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform)
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring platforms (Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch)
- Network switch administration experience (Cumulus, Arista, Cisco, or similar)
