The Senior Analytics Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making across our credit card and retail banking portfolios. Sitting at the intersection of business strategy, data analytics, and financial services, this role is responsible for extracting actionable insights from complex datasets to optimize portfolio profitability, manage credit risk, and enhance customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
1\. Portfolio Performance & Business Strategy
- Analyze credit card portfolio metrics (e.g., active rates, spend volume, revolving behavior, balance build, credit limit utilization, and attrition) to identify growth opportunities and revenue leakage.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses on customer behavior, product performance, and channel effectiveness to support strategic business cases.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, structured, and actionable business recommendations for senior leadership and product owners.
2\. Data Extraction, Manipulation & Reporting
- Write highly optimized, complex SQL queries and/or SAS programs to extract, clean, and aggregate transactional and customer demographic data from enterprise data warehouses.
- Design, build, and maintain automated dashboards and business intelligence reports tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for the credit card business.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across all analytical outputs and regulatory reporting.
3\. Risk & Credit Analytics
- Partner with Risk Management to monitor credit quality, delinquency trends, roll rates, and credit loss provisions.
- Analyze the impact of credit policy changes (e.g., credit limit increases/decreases, underwriting criteria) on portfolio performance and risk-adjusted revenue.
4\. Marketing & Campaign Analytics
- Evaluate the performance of customer acquisition, cross-sell, balance transfer, and retention campaigns.
- Perform customer segmentation and propensity modeling to optimize targeting strategies, reducing cost-per-acquisition (CPA) and maximizing customer lifetime value (LTV).
Required Technical Skills
- SQL : Advanced proficiency. Must be expert in writing complex joins, subqueries, window functions, CTEs, and query optimization across platforms such as Teradata, Oracle, Snowflake, or SQL Server.
- SAS : Strong proficiency in SAS Base, SAS/STAT, and SAS Macro programming for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Data Visualization: Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView to build interactive dashboards.
- MS Excel: Advanced skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas, index/match, data modeling).
Preferred Technical Skills
- Python: Basic to intermediate knowledge of Python (specifically Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib/Seaborn) for data analysis, automation, or scripting is a strong plus but not required.
- Banking Domain: Understanding of retail banking products, customer databases, and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., FCRA, CARD Act, AML).
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, or Business Analytics.
- Experience: 3 to 7 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or Portfolio Analyst within the Credit Card or Retail Banking industry.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to present technical insights to non-technical business stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical thinking with a structured approach to solving ambiguous business problems.
