This position is based one block from the U.S. Capitol and requires daily, in-office work.The ideal candidate is a strong writer and producer with a passion for political and government reporting, and the ability to translate complex developments in Washington into clear, concise, and engaging content for local audiences.Job SummaryThe Content Producer works with the Executive Producer, CTV Host, reporters, photographers, and other newsroom staff to produce, write, edit, and distribute content across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms. Responsibilities include live streaming production, news gathering, video editing, and coordination of daily coverage.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesProduces and executes live and recorded streaming content, including daily programsMaintains daily event schedules and monitors news developments and political calendarsRoutes live feeds, ingests video, and distributes content to Nexstar stationsMonitors and edits news events, press conferences, and interviews for broadcast and digital useWrites and edits scripts for broadcast, digital, and CTV platforms with attention to accuracy and clarityEdits video for vo/sots, packages, and long-form contentDevelops enterprise story ideas and pitches content relevant to local audiencesResearches and analyzes information to ensure complete and accurate reportingCoordinates and conducts interviews with lawmakers, analysts, and other newsmakersAssists with guest booking and segment production for live and taped programmingField produces special coverage, including live shots and interviewsPublishes and distributes content across websites, apps, CTV, and social media platformsCollaborates with bureau staff and Nexstar partners, including NewsNation and The HillEnsures all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production qualityPerforms other duties as assignedRequirements & SkillsBachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field, or equivalent work experience2–5 years of experience in political, government, or broadcast/digital newsPrior experience in news producing requiredStrong writing, editing, and communication skillsFamiliarity with live streaming and CTV production preferredProficiency with non-linear editing systems and digital news gathering tools (e.g., OBS, vMix, CMS platforms)Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple assignmentsStrong organizational and time management skillsKnowledge of Capitol Hill, federal agencies, and political processes preferredExperience covering Washington, DC or a state capitol is a plusValid driver’s license with a good driving recordFlexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays as neededPhysical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe Content Producer must be able to sit for extended periods, use standard office equipment, and communicate effectively in person and electronically. The position requires the ability to make independent decisions and work in a collaborative newsroom environment.Occasional outdoor work may be required in varying weather conditions.
