Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Anesthesia Tech, you will perform essential duties under the supervision of licensed anesthesia care physicians, contributing to the efficient and safe delivery of anesthesia services. Every day you will demonstrate practical knowledge and expertise in all general areas of anesthesia, maintain the anesthesia environment, equipment, and supplies, and ensure departmental compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements. To be successful in this role, you will possess practical anesthesia knowledge, meticulous attention to detail in equipment and supply management, and a commitment to maintaining departmental compliance and ensuring a safe anesthesia environment.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of anesthesia delivery systems, monitors, and ancillary devices.
  • Prepares anesthesia supplies, equipment, and invasive lines for each surgical procedure per individual Anesthesiologist, ensuring all are available and in working order.
  • Maintains sufficient inventory of all equipment and supplies, ensuring sterile supplies are within expiration dates, and working with Supply Chain Management on costsaving initiatives.
  • Assists anesthesia physicians with patient care, including transport, positioning, application of monitoring devices, insertion of invasive lines, and airway management.
  • Prioritizes needs with other ancillary staff, assists with room turnovers and patient throughput, and understands/demonstrates aseptic technique for sterile fields.
  • Identifies and prioritizes anesthesia needs in emergent situations, demonstrates knowledge of TJC, OSHA, and Hazmat guidelines, and reports equipment defects to proper personnel.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
  • Previous healthcare related experience

Preferred

  • Associate's Degree
  • Previous Anesthesia Technician experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support
