The role

We are hiring a Senior Risk Analyst to own a material credit-strategy workstream within FairMoney’s Android lending portfolio in Nigeria.

This is not a monitoring-only or reporting-only role. It is a hands-on, P&L-impacting credit strategy and succession role.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end performance of your assigned Android workstream
  • Build a prioritised strategy and delivery roadmap aligned to the Android annual business plan
  • Own the relevant workstream assumptions, monthly forecast and corrective actions
  • Review budget-versus-actual performance and explain material variances
  • Manage the relevant approval, disbursal, exposure, revenue, risk-adjusted Gross Profit, ECL, FPD, roll-rate, PAR, NPL, customer-value and recoverability metrics
  • Identify material risk, economic leakage and profitable growth opportunities
  • Quantify expected impact, implementation requirements, dependencies and downside risks

2. Credit strategy and experimentation

Depending on your mandate, you may design and improve:

  • Top-Up and Consolidation eligibility
  • Repeat-customer growth and customer-lifecycle strategy

  • Customer routing and graduation logic

3. Production implementation and controls

  • Translate recommendations into decision-engine rules, parameters and implementation requirements
  • Work directly with SQL, analytical code and decision logic where needed
  • Define replay, back-testing, validation and testing requirements
  • Review implementation logic for unintended policy or model interactions
  • Define staged rollout, monitoring and rollback plans
  • Monitor strategies after release and take corrective action where performance differs from expectation
  • Maintain clear documentation, policy versioning and decision traceability

4. Cross-functional delivery and governance

You will work closely with the Android portfolio leadership team, Decision Science, Engineering, Product, Growth, Finance, Portfolio Economics, Collections, Fraud, Compliance, Legal, Operations and Customer Service.

  • Write clear analytical and implementation briefs

Requirements

1. Workstream economics and planning

  • Own the end-to-end performance of your assigned Android workstream
  • Build a prioritised strategy and delivery roadmap aligned to the Android annual business plan
  • Own the relevant workstream assumptions, monthly forecast and corrective actions
  • Review budget-versus-actual performance and explain material variances
  • Manage the relevant approval, disbursal, exposure, revenue, risk-adjusted Gross Profit, ECL, FPD, roll-rate, PAR, NPL, customer-value and recoverability metrics
  • Identify material risk, economic leakage and profitable growth opportunities
  • Quantify expected impact, implementation requirements, dependencies and downside risks

For this role, economic profit means revenue less Expected Credit Loss, funding costs, customer-acquisition costs, fraud losses, servicing and collections costs, and any agreed direct operating or capital/liquidity charges.

2. Credit strategy and experimentation

Depending on your mandate, you may design and improve:

  • Eligibility, requalification and rejected-customer re-entry
  • PD cut-offs and calibration
  • Offers, exposure limits, pricing and tenure
  • DTI, affordability and income-source treatment
  • Top-Up and Consolidation eligibility
  • Repeat-customer growth and customer-lifecycle strategy
  • High-risk treatments and policy overlays
  • Customer routing and graduation logic

You will conduct rigorous cohort, vintage, funnel and segment analysis; distinguish genuine credit movements from data or operational noise; and design controlled experiments with valid controls, maturity windows and rollback conditions.

Your output must be a clear scale, hold, iterate or stop recommendation—not only a dashboard or analytical finding.

You do not need to be a software engineer, but you must understand how credit strategy reaches production and drive delivery through to measured impact.

4. Cross-functional delivery and governance

You will work closely with the Android portfolio leadership team, Decision Science, Engineering, Product, Growth, Finance, Portfolio Economics, Collections, Fraud, Compliance, Legal, Operations and Customer Service.

You will:

  • Write clear analytical and implementation briefs
  • Define owners, milestones and expected economic impact
  • Manage dependencies actively and escalate blockers with options
  • Operate within agreed risk appetite, budgets and delegated authority
  • Scale, pause, modify or roll back controlled strategies within your mandate

  • Deputise for the Lead Risk Manager, Portfolio Owner or designated workstream lead when required
  • Build the judgement and breadth required to progress into broader portfolio ownership
