Position Summary 

The Readiness Team Member will provide technical support to the Y-12 Readiness Assurance organization for startup and readiness activities on assigned projects. The role supports the review and evaluation of technical readiness evidence used to demonstrate compliance with DOE readiness requirements. 

This position works with readiness team leadership and technical stakeholders to assess documentation, identify readiness gaps, support evidence collection, and contribute to readiness review activities for safe and compliant startup of Y-12 projects. 

Responsibilities 

  • Support DOE readiness review activities for assigned Y-12 projects under the direction of readiness team leadership and the STR/Manager. 
  • Review and evaluate technical evidence supporting operational readiness, including procedures, training documentation, equipment status, safety basis implementation records, and readiness artifacts. 
  • Assist in identifying gaps, issues, or incomplete evidence related to startup authorization readiness and operational readiness requirements. 
  • Document review results, support readiness reports, and contribute to evidence packages and issue tracking activities. 
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, nuclear safety, training, quality, and contractor assurance personnel to obtain and clarify readiness evidence. 
  • Apply knowledge of DOE readiness reviews and related orders, standards, procedures, and Y-12 site expectations to assigned review activities. 
  • Follow applicable Y-12/CNS quality, security, information protection, safety, training, badging, and conduct of operations requirements. 

Requirements

Requirements 

  • Knowledge of DOE readiness reviews. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience. 
  • Ability to support technical evidence collection and evaluation for operational readiness reviews or comparable readiness activities. 
  • U.S. citizen with an active DOE Q clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance. 
  • Ability to support Y-12 National Security Complex readiness assurance activities for projects subject to DOE Order 425.1D. 
  • Ability to collect, organize, evaluate, and defend technical evidence demonstrating that operational readiness requirements have been met. 
  • Technical familiarity with engineering, nuclear operations, nuclear safety, and startup/readiness issues associated with nuclear facility operations. 
  • Basic understanding of DOE Order 420.1C, DOE Order 425.1D, DOE Order 413.3B, DOE Standard 3006-2010, DOE-HDBK-3012-2003, and applicable readiness review practices. 
  • Ability to comply with CNS/Y-12 quality, security, conduct of operations, worker safety and health, information protection, badging, and site-specific training requirements. 
  • Ability to complete required GET, web-based, and on-site training prior to performing on-site work and throughout the assignment as directed by the STR/Manager. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience supporting readiness reviews, operational readiness assessments, startup authorization, nuclear operations, engineering, training, quality, or contractor assurance activities. 
  • Experience working with DOE/NNSA facilities, procedures, evidence packages, issue tracking, and readiness review documentation. 
  • Experience supporting Y-12, CNS, DOE, NNSA, or comparable highly regulated nuclear facility projects. 
  • Experience handling or working around UCNI, OUO, or CUI information in accordance with applicable information protection requirements. 
  • Experience working with STR/Manager direction, contractor assurance processes, readiness review evidence packages, and cross-functional technical teams. 
  • Local to Oak Ridge or able to support an approved telework and travel arrangement after initial training and STR/Manager approval. 

Education and Experience 

Minimum of 2 years of related experience with knowledge of DOE readiness reviews. 

Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
