Working Student – Quadruped Robot Applications (m/f/d)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Working Student to join our team and support the development of autonomous quadruped robot applications.
You will work alongside experienced robotics engineers on R&D initiatives and customer projects. Depending on your skills, interests, and project needs, you will contribute to in one or more areas of quadruped robot software development, including perception, locomotion, autonomous behaviors, and robot applications.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with modern robotics software, simulation, and real robotic platforms while learning from experienced engineers in an international team.

Your Responsibilities

Depending on your skills and interests, you will contribute to one or more of the following areas:
  • Explore and prototype robotics algorithms and software solutions for autonomous quadruped robots.
  • Support the development and integration of robot applications, including perception, locomotion, navigation, and autonomous behaviors.
  • Work with sensors such as RGB cameras, depth cameras, LiDAR, and IMUs to evaluate and integrate robotics solutions for localization, mapping, motion planning, and environmental perception.
  • Test, validate, and optimize software performance in simulation and on physical robotic platforms.
  • Collaborate with the robotics team on R&D projects, customer demonstrations, and system integration.

Essential Skills

  • Strong Programming experience in Python and/or C++.
  • Familiarity with Linux development environments.
  • Understanding of robotics concepts, including kinematics, control, localization, mapping, and motion planning. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Beneficial Skills

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
  • ROS / ROS 2 and robotics software development
  • Computer vision and perception, such as OpenCV, object detection, point cloud processing, or 3D perception
  • Navigation and localization, including SLAM, state estimation, mapping, or motion planning
  • Robot control, such as feedback control, legged locomotion, Model Predictive Control (MPC), or Whole-Body Control
  • Machine learning or reinforcement learning for robotics applications
  • Robotics simulation, such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or MuJoCo
  • Mobile or legged robotics and autonomous robot applications
  • Git and collaborative software development

Your Profile

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Passionate about robotics and eager to learn new technologies.
  • Interested in developing expertise in robot applications, perception, or control systems.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Able to structure open-ended problems and communicate technical results clearly.
  • Careful and rigorous when testing, debugging, and documenting your work.
  • Available to work fully on-site, as the role involves hands-on work with physical robots.
