Simulation Education Specialist
HealthPartners is hiring for a full-time Simulation Education Specialist.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree Or Associates Degree with 3 years teaching/training experience in a healthcare environment.
Experience: Five years clinical experience with one year teaching/training in a healthcare environment.
Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
Must hold a current license in the related clinical discipline.
Must hold a current and valid Driver’s License.
Must achieve certification of Certified Simulation Healthcare Educator (CHSE) within three years of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Expert clinical skills with an in-depth understanding of physiology, pathophysiology, and clinical correlation/applications.
Knowledge of various healthcare settings.
Able to independently operate, program, and maintain simulation equipment within six months of hire.
Utilizes principles of instructional design, adult learning, and learning assessment/evaluation.
Proficiency with technology including software applications: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook (email & calendar).
Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, customers, and learners.
Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to perform, collaborate, and lead or co-lead cross functional teams.
Able to work under pressure and reliably meet deadlines.
Self-motivated, able to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.
Skilled in creative problem-solving techniques, conflict resolution, and mutual beneficial solutions.
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, tasks, and prioritize appropriately; flexibility to adapt to changing learning situations.
Able to organize and maintain accurate electronic and paper filing systems.
Flexibility for scheduling needs that fall outside weekday hours.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree
Experience: Experience using simulation as a learning methodology. ICU/ED experience.
Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)
RN, RT, PA-C, or EMT-P.
Certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated advanced ability in adult learning techniques.
POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Simulation Education Specialist conducts need assessments, and researches, collaborates with, recommends, and designs simulation experiences for customers/stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams. The Education Specialist manages and evaluates the facilitation process of simulation experiences. This role is vital to achieve our mission of improving health and patient safety through simulation-based programs designed to maximize the abilities of individuals, teams, and systems. This role manages simulation-based assessment, development, and delivery for internal, external, interdisciplinary, and multi-specialty areas and care teams throughout the healthcare system.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND TASKS:

1.Manage, Coordinate, and Deliver Education Programs Utilizing Simulation Resources60%
Manage all aspects of simulation activities, including but not limited to:
set up, clean up, facilitation of simulation activities including role play, instruction, and orientation for participants
Serves as resource, coach, mentor for clinicians, customers, and stakeholders who support, facilitate, or co-facilitate simulation-based activities.
Coordinates activity and use of simulation equipment and space on behalf of HealthPartners Clinical Simulation.
Analyzes simulation activities and provides real-time feedback for quality, safety, and effectiveness of care. Includes debriefing of participant performance and validating skills.
Consults with stakeholders, conducts needs assessments, designs, and develops simulation-based curricula.
Collaborates with Learning & Development peers and facility education staff, to assist with identifying, recommending, and promoting professional development through both internal and external programs, such as certification training, advanced courses in specialty areas, and augmented practice training.
Identify, recommend, and manage follow-up courses, cohort classes, and other learning tools post initial simulation sessions. Including, but not limited to, analyzing evaluation data for future recommendations, aggregates and utilizes data for broader organizational initiatives and system improvements.
Leads coordination of simulation programs for all stakeholders.
Responsible for accurate recording of data, includes participant information, reports, and evaluations.
Ensures all data is secure, adhering to organizational and departmental policies.
Manage accreditation and grant requirements.
Attend departmental meetings and/or meetings on behalf of the department.
Projects as requested.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently. This may be an OSHA issue limiting to 35 pounds.
Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time.
Must be able to view computer screen for up to six hours a day.
Must have manual dexterity to navigate equipment and computer.
Must have full range of motion to push, pull bend, kneel, reach overhead repetitively.
Ability to drive a cargo van without modifications.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
May be exposed to a variety of weather conditions while transporting equipment, may be exposed to biological tissues, potential exposure to cleaning solutions, and exposure to latex within the simulators.
