Job Description:

The Product Group Owner will lead a team of Product Owners and is responsible to ensure that a Product Group and its Pods are creating value for the organization through the delivery of customer-focused product increments. This entails aligning with other Product Owners and senior management to follow a product vision, creating and maintaining a prioritized product backlog, managing delivery blockers, continuously assessing customer feedback, taking the pulse of the market and bringing in innovation and collaborating with stakeholders. The Product Group Owner should always be considering how to maximize value, assessing how the product or the delivery process can be continuously improved, contributes to a positive work environment and ensures that work embodies the Agile principles of transparency, collaboration and engagement.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    CUSTOMER

    • Partner with senior management to support the delivery of a product vision
    • In alignment with the product vision, create and maintain a product backlog and continuously re-prioritize user stories that will provide the most customer or end user value
    • Continuously align with senior management on the product delivery roadmap, defined Minimum Marketable Features or Minimum Viable Products and release cadence
    • Review performance analytics; recommend and champion strategies to enhance the customer or end user product experience
    • Participate in scrum or Kanban events (e.g. stand-ups, retrospectives), express new ideas for improving product value or delivery efficiency, sharing with leadership as appropriate
    • Proactively engage established business process partners to ensure customers or end users are prepared for application changes and establish Day 2 processes
    • Create a value-focused product backlog and continuously iterate, ensuring there are user stories scoped and prioritized
    • Provide user story design, development and completion oversight; accepting / rejecting user stories based on the agreed upon Definition of Done and Acceptance Criteria
    • Manage delivery initiatives and (depending on complexity) oversee multiple development teams (Product Group or Pod) backlogs
    • Proactively raise issues that impede the efficient delivery of customer-focused increments
    • Responsible for defect management and prioritization

    • SHAREHOLDERAdhere, and ensure pods adhere, to enterprise frameworks and methodologies related to overall business management activities
    • Assess / identify key issues and escalate to appropriate levels and relevant stakeholders and business management where required
    • Act as the senior business owner for third-party risk products across Risk, Procurement, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and business segments.
    • Build relationships with executive stakeholders to align strategic priorities and secure support for product initiatives.
    • Present roadmap progress, risk impacts, and value realization outcomes to executive and governance forums.
    • Influence enterprise-wide change through cross-functional collaboration and thought leadership
    • Identify, mitigate and report on risk issues per enterprise policy / guidance and ensure appropriate escalation processes are followed
    • Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)
    • Lead relationships with business lines / corporate and/or control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
    • Lead or contribute to cross-functional / enterprise initiatives as an organizational or subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations
    • Define the OKRs in partnership with numerous stakeholders across the organization
    • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
    • Oversee or lead the facilitation and/or implementation of action / remediation plans to address performance / risk / governance issues
    • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts

    EMPLOYEE / TEAM

    • Define and execute the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for Third Party Risk Management platforms and data products.
    • Ensure product investments align with enterprise risk, procurement, operational resilience, and regulatory priorities.
    • Establish product vision, business outcomes, key performance indicators, and value realization measures
    • Oversee delivery of strategic programs, product enhancements, and modernization initiatives across multiple platforms.
    • Lead business transformation initiatives focused on digitization, automation, and process optimization.
    • Provide executive sponsorship to agile delivery teams, ensuring alignment with business outcomes and risk objectives.
    • Drive continuous improvement and innovation through customer feedback, industry benchmarking, and emerging technologies
    • Connect the alignment of colleague's contributions with the TD Shared Commitments

    • Contribute to the development of business segment and/or enterprise functional strategic priorities within their operational area or field of specialty that drive results
    • Develop annual and/or long-term plans for own area that are aligned with enterprise-wide priorities, reinforcing a focus on results that align to One TD
    • Foster a high-performance culture by setting team targets and objectives, promoting and facilitating on-going feedback/coaching and conducting Quarterly Check-Ins for all colleagues to drive accountability and business results
    • Manage employees in compliance with all human resources policies, procedures and guidelines of conduct

    BREADTH & DEPTH

    • Oversee and lead a team of Pod Product owners for an area of risk, complexity or scope while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project / initiative success and achieve business results
    • Build, lead, coach, and develop high-performing Product Management and Business Analysis teams.
    • Establish product management best practices, governance standards, and delivery frameworks.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and customer-centric product development.
    • Mentor team members and create succession and talent development plans
    • Integrates knowledge of the enterprise function’s or business segment’s overarching strategy in leading program design, policy formulation or operating standards within one or more areas of expertise
    • Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise
    • Deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas
    • Facilitate key strategic discussions and provides thought leadership (output may include roadmap and/or deliverables/ frameworks/ short to long term goals etc.)
    • Manage strategic relationships with third-party technology providers and service partners supporting TPRM capabilities.
    • Evaluate vendor solutions, negotiate priorities, and influence product roadmaps to meet enterprise requirements.
    • Ensure service providers meet performance, resiliency, and contractual obligations

    EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

    • Undergraduate degree and / or product certificate required
    • Graduate degree preferred
    • 10+ years relevant experience
    • 5+ years Product Owner or Agile related delivery experience
    • Familiarity with overall Supply Chain Process with focus on Risk and Procurement Applications
    • Coupa and Ariba S2P experience considered an asset
    • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification and project management experience considered an asset
    • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications or experience operating in scaled agile delivery considered an asset
