Postdoctoral Fellow-MSH

United StatesFull-timePosted Dec 16, 2021

Roles & Responsibilities:

The candidate will perform biochemical and genetic characterization of cyclin-dependent protein kinases (CDKs) involved in regulating gene expression in human cells. Specifically, candidatewill focus on the roles and regulation of Cdk7, an essential regulator of both cell-cycle progression and transcription. Candidate will use extant human cell lines previously generated by my lab that allow precise control of Cdk7 activity with small molecules, and new lines. Candidate will generate by genome-editing techniques, to perform genome-wide analyses of transcription. These studies will yield important insights into how Cdk7 regulates the RNA polymerase II transcription cycle and coordinates gene expression with cell division. The candidate's findings will be reported in manuscripts that he and I will prepare for submission to top-tier, peer-reviewed journals. I anticipate that the project initiated by the candidate during his stay in my lab will be the catalyst for new, international research collaborations. Candiate will also be the direct, day-to-day supervisor of more junior members of my group. As a senior member of my lab, he will also be partly responsible for its day-to-day operations, maintenance of equipment and supplies, and laboratory safety. Finally, he will represent the lab by presenting his work at national and international scientific conferences
