Lead Software Engineer – PLM Integration Platform
- Full-time
Job Description
Shape the Future of Product Lifecycle Management at H&M
At H&M Tech, we are transforming how product data flows across our global technology landscape. We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and evolution of the integration layer supporting our next-generation Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform, Centric PLM.
This is a business-critical role within Product Lifecycle Foundation, responsible for enabling reliable product data flow between PLM and the broader H&M ecosystem, including product development, sourcing, supply chain, master data, analytics, and downstream business applications. The role is important for maintaining continuity in our PLM modernization journey and ensuring successful delivery of key transformation initiatives.
What You Will Do
The ideal candidate combines hands-on software engineering expertise with technical leadership, integration architecture, and a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
Technical Leadership
- Lead a team of software engineers working on the PLM integration platform.
- Provide technical direction and architectural guidance for PLM integration delivery.
- Drive engineering standards, code quality, design reviews, and clear technical decision-making.
- Own technical delivery from design through production deployment and operational excellence.
- Coach and mentor engineers to foster a high-performing engineering culture.
Integration Platform Engineering
- Design and build scalable integration services connecting Centric PLM with internal and external systems.
- Develop APIs, event-driven services, messaging solutions, and data transformation capabilities.
- Apply proven integration and distributed-system patterns to create scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions.
- Ensure the platform is reliable, observable, secure, performant, and ready for production operations.
Integration Platform & Architecture
- Define target architecture for PLM integrations and data exchange.
- Lead the design of high-throughput distributed systems handling complex business workflows.
- Collaborate with enterprise architects, product teams, and platform teams across H&M.
- Establish non-functional requirements including scalability, availability, security, and operational readiness.
Operational Excellence
- Build end-to-end observability including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
- Drive incident reduction, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Champion automation, CI/CD, testing strategies, and release management practices.
- Support production services and ensure robust operational processes.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
The Product domain provides capabilities to design, create, source, and produce customer‑relevant assortments. It covers the full product lifecycle from product design, sourcing, purchasing, to production execution, and is organized into four focus areas that each own a distinct part of this lifecycle.
Product Lifecycle Foundation provides the foundational systems and tools to manage product data, processes, and lifecycle information. It enables product development, supplier collaboration and accurate product data. It enables supplier collaboration, product data accuracy, and supports efficient product development.
PLM Hub acts as an integration layer connecting the PLM platform (Centric) with upstream and downstream applications, supporting end-to-end processes in planning, development, sourcing, and production.
WHO YOU ARE
- 10+ years hands-on software engineering experience in designing and delivering complex, enterprise-scale backend and integration solutions.
- Proven technical leadership with the ability to mentor engineers, lead delivery teams, drive architectural decisions, and foster engineering excellence.
- Strong expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native application development, microservices, and service-oriented architectures, with a focus on scalability, resilience, and reliability.
- Solid experience building and integrating enterprise platforms using REST APIs, event-driven architectures, messaging technologies, enterprise integration patterns, and API governance.
- Experience with one or more messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka, Solace PubSub+, Google Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in backend development using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or similar, including asynchronous programming techniques.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (preferred), Azure, or AWS, along with Kubernetes, Docker, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD practices.
- Strong understanding of observability, production operations, and reliability engineering, including automated testing, monitoring, alerting, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, and SRE principles.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL or other distributed databases, data modelling, and enterprise data integration and transformation.
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Platform, Business, and external vendor teams in a global environment.
- Experience within retail, fashion technology, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Centric PLM, product creation, supply chain, or product master data integrations is highly desirable but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to balance technical innovation with operational excellence while creating a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous learning, and high engineering standards.
