Qualifications
A scorer must;
- Hold an educator certification, have at least three years of teaching experience, and be teaching or have taught within the last three years;
- or be an instructor in an institution of higher education who, in the last three years, has taught classes corresponding to the field;
- or have continuing experience as a scorer in the content field after having met one of the above qualifications;
- OR be a National Board-Certified Educator;

Overall Responsibilities
- Evaluate artifacts submitted by teacher candidates
- Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities
- Recognize and discuss various types of bias (e.g., implicit bias, cultural bias, leniency bias, central tendency bias, halo effect) and effect strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring
- Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring

Working Conditions
- After an initial facilitated training session and qualification activity, scorers will work independently at times that work with their schedule.
- There may be a brief orientation meeting before the day of training occurs.
