GIS Specialist - Bridges
Job Description
Overview
The GIS Specialist will be responsible for developing, managing, analyzing, and maintaining Geographic Information System (GIS) data, maps, spatial databases, and digital mapping solutions for the Bridges Project. The role will support engineering, design, construction, survey, and project management teams by providing accurate geospatial information and spatial analysis to facilitate planning, construction, monitoring, and asset management activities.
Your role
GIS Data Management & Development
- Develop, manage, and maintain GIS databases, geodatabases, and spatial datasets for bridge and infrastructure projects.
- Establish GIS standards, workflows, and quality control procedures to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Collect, validate, organize, and maintain geospatial data from survey, engineering, utility, environmental, and construction teams.
- Ensure accurate integration of GIS data from multiple project stakeholders.
Infrastructure & Bridge Mapping
- Support bridge and infrastructure planning by producing detailed thematic maps and geospatial analyses.
- Develop route alignment mapping and infrastructure corridor visualization products.
- Maintain geospatial records of construction progress and completed works.
- Spatial Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze spatial relationships between bridges, road networks, utilities, and surrounding developments.
- Generate GIS reports, dashboards, web maps, and visualizations for project stakeholders.
- Prepare graphical presentations and maps for progress meetings and client reviews.
Survey & Engineering Integration
- Support engineering and design teams through geospatial data analysis and model development.
- Integrate GIS datasets with CAD and BIM environments to support project delivery.
- Verify spatial accuracy of engineering and construction data.
Construction & Asset Data Management
- Track and manage GIS information throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Develop asset inventories and geospatial databases for bridge components and infrastructure systems.
- Support digital handover requirements and asset management programs.
- Maintain accurate records of completed infrastructure assets for future operation and maintenance.
GIS Applications & Digital Solutions
- Develop GIS tools, applications, and dashboards to improve project reporting and decision-making.
- Support digital transformation initiatives and smart infrastructure solutions.
- Contribute to GIS-enabled project management and construction monitoring systems.
- Assist with implementation of digital twin, BIM-GIS integration, and geospatial data visualization initiatives where applicable.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all GIS deliverables comply with project standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
- Conduct quality checks on geospatial datasets and mapping outputs.
- Maintain data security, version control, and document management procedures.
- Participate in project audits and data reviews.
About you
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Surveying, Geospatial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master's Degree in GIS, Geomatics, or Spatial Sciences is advantageous.
- Professional GIS certifications such as Esri Technical Certification are preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 12 years of GIS experience supporting major infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience on transportation, bridge, highway, or urban infrastructure projects.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering and construction environments.
- Previous GCC or KSA project experience is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting client organizations, engineering consultants, or major contractors is preferred.
