General Summary:
The Senior Director, Finance Integration Lead will serve as the finance business partner for M&A activities. This role is critical to enabling a disciplined, well-governed integration that supports business continuity, financial transparency, strong controls, and alignment with Vertex standards.
This role will oversee the financial strategy, execution, and outcomes of M&A integrations, ensuring that cross-functional value capture assumptions, financial considerations, and integration-related commitments are clearly baselined, tracked, governed, and supported throughout the integration. The role will also ensure a seamless transfer of financial information, institutional knowledge, and ongoing accountabilities to Vertex functional finance teams as the integration progresses.
The Senior Director will lead finance integration activities, with a primary focus on FP&A processes, including financial planning, forecasting, and reporting. This role will partner closely with Vertex and acquiriing company's Finance, HR, Accounting, and other key stakeholders to ensure finance-related integration activities are tightly coordinated and that information is prepared, governed, and shared in a manner consistent with Vertex standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead finance integration planning and execution for M&A integrations, with primary accountability for FP&A-related processes, deliverables, and outcomes.
Drive alignment of planning, forecasting, and reporting processes to ensure that finance inputs, outputs, and reporting are consistent with Vertex standards expectations.
Partner closely with Vertex and acquiring company's Finance, HR, Accounting, and other key stakeholders on finance integration activities, including key coordination points related to systems, financial data flows, and reporting consistency.
Oversee baselining of deal assumptions and value capture initiatives, including tracking, governance, and reporting against integration objectives.
Establish and manage the finance integration roadmap, including milestones, dependencies, risks, and mitigation plans, to support timely and effective execution.
Ensure financial information from acquiring company is organized, translated, and presented in a manner consistent with Vertex financial frameworks and reporting conventions.
Develop and maintain integration governance, reporting cadences, and executive-level updates on finance integration progress, risks, and key decisions.
Identify process gaps, integration issues, and areas requiring standardization, and implement solutions that align with Vertex operating practices.
Build strong cross-functional partnerships to support change management, adoption of Vertex processes, and successful transition to steady-state operations.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Deep knowledge of FP&A processes, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and recasting.
- Strong understanding of the interaction among finance, accounting, and related stakeholder groups during integration activities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional integration efforts involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong financial analysis, problem-solving, and decision-support capabilities.
- Ability to baseline, monitor, and communicate performance against value capture initiatives and deal assumptions.
- Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to present clearly and effectively to senior leadership.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage timelines, dependencies, risks, and deliverables.
- Ability to translate and align financial information into standardized Vertex formats, processes, and reporting frameworks.
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across FP&A, Accounting, and other functions.
- High degree of judgment, accountability, and attention to detail in a fast-paced integration environment.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- MBA, CPA, CFA, or other relevant advanced degree or certification preferred.
- Requires 12+ years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience in finance, FP&A, accounting, and/or business integration roles.
- Requires substantial experience leading complex finance initiatives, cross-functional programs, or integration efforts in a dynamic environment.
- Prior leadership experience managing senior stakeholders and driving execution across multiple workstreams is required.
Pay Range:
$212,000 - $318,000Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
