Citi is looking for a Client Acceptance & Onboarding Analyst to deliver accurate, compliant, and efficient account opening function for retail banking customers across branch and digital channels. In this role, you will work with frontline teams, compliance partners, and operations colleagues, ensuring all customer onboarding activities meet regulatory, risk, and internal policy requirements while maintaining a positive client experience.
Responsibilities
- Process retail bank account opening requests — including savings, current, and bundled accounts — across branch and digital channels, ensuring accurate and compliant data capture and timely completion within agreed service levels.
- Verify customer identity and documentation in line with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and applicable regulatory requirements to maintain compliant onboarding standards.
- Conduct customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence assessments, applying appropriate risk profiling to identify and escalate potential compliance concerns through established protocols.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audit activities.
- Coordinate with business development, sales, and service teams to resolve documentation gaps and discrepancies, keeping account setup on track and minimising delays for customers.
- Track and manage onboarding cases through internal systems and workflows, meeting individual productivity, quality, and risk metrics while actively contributing to rework reduction and complaint minimisation.
- Identify opportunities and drive digital enhancements to improve onboarding processes, which includes supporting the adoption of digital tools and automation to streamline processes, increase efficiency and turnaround times.
- Serve as a point of contact for escalations and cross-functional queries, providing guidance to frontline teams on documentation requirements and onboarding standards.
- Take on additional responsibilities as the role evolves and business needs require.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Banking, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in retail banking operations, account opening, customer onboarding, or banking back-office functions.
- Working knowledge of KYC, AML, sanctions screening, and regulatory onboarding requirements as applied in a retail banking environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a track record of accurate, high-quality processing in a high-volume setting.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to coordinate and collaborate across teams and provide practical guidance to frontline colleagues.
- Ability to build a strong, collaborative and trusted working relationship with your team and colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent cases and consistently meet deadlines without compromising accuracy or compliance.
- Comfortable navigating banking systems and digital tools, with a proactive approach to continuous learning and personal development.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
- Prior hands-on exposure to KYC and AML processes within retail banking environment, including source of wealth corroboration.
- Experience supporting or contributing to process improvement initiatives, including the adoption of digital workflows or automation tools.
- Familiarity with wealth management or client servicing functions, particularly in relation to onboarding governance and back-office oversight.
