Job summary 

As an Wholesale Credit Risk Analyst in Wholesale Credit Risk, Commercial & Investment Bank, you use analytical skills and industry knowledge to support credit decisions for a portfolio of clients. You work with us and with coverage and product partners to meet client credit requests while balancing risk and return and maintaining a strong culture of compliance. You monitor portfolio performance, develop independent credit opinions, and communicate your analysis clearly through written approvals and ongoing credit research.

Job responsibilities 

  • Conduct credit analysis to support approval of lending and trading-related transactions, individually and as part of a deal team
  • Prepare written credit approval documents, including financial statement spreading, analysis, and cash flow projections for large corporate borrowers
  • Develop forward-looking views of business, financial, and competitive risks across companies and sectors
  • Manage and monitor a portfolio of client credit exposures across industry classes on an ongoing basis
  • Own client credit needs and projects and form independent credit opinions
  • Assign and maintain accurate risk ratings for clients and facilities
  • Maintain up-to-date credit research and key risk views for covered clients
  • Participate in credit due diligence, including for capital markets transactions
  • Collaborate with credit risk peers and business partners to support timely, well-governed decisions

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree with academic training in accounting principles, corporate finance, capital markets products, and macroeconomics
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Strong accounting and corporate finance knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with interest in client interaction
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to learn
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a demanding team environment
  • Ability to understand, explain, and debate complex concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • Credit or underwriting credentials and relevant analytical experience
  • Analytical or financial experience in consumer, retail, or healthcare sectors
