Capital Medical Group (CMG) is seeking a full-time, fellowship-trained Spine Surgeon to join the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. This role offers a concurrent faculty appointment at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (GW SMHS), a base salary plus wRVU productivity bonus and academic stipend compensation model, and the opportunity to teach orthopedic residents and medical students at an academic Level I Trauma Center, allowing you to focus on comprehensive spine care while working alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary orthopedic team.

- Practice Setting: Academic medical center; 371-bed, ACS-verified Level I Trauma Center; principal teaching hospital for GW SMHS
- Support / Care Team: Advanced practice providers, nursing staff, orthopedic residents (5-year ACGME program), and medical students
- EMR / Technology: GW Hospital (Cerner) / CMG Outpatient (Epic)
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat cervical, thoracic, and lumbar degenerative spine conditions, including disc herniation, spinal stenosis, and spondylolisthesis.
- Perform minimally invasive and open spine surgery, including decompression, fusion, and instrumentation procedures.
- Manage adult spinal deformity and complex revision spine surgery.
- Provide surgical management of spine trauma referred through the GW Hospital Level I Trauma Center, coordinating with Neurosurgery and Trauma Surgery as needed.
- Participate in multidisciplinary spine case conferences and coordinate care with pain management, physiatry, and neurosurgery colleagues.
- Supervise orthopedic residents and medical students in clinic and the operating room as part of the Sports rotation
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff to manage day-to-day clinical responsibilities
- Document care using the GW Hospital / CMG electronic health record
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Base salary + annual wRVU-based productivity incentive + academic stipend for GW SMHS teaching, mentorship, and scholarly responsibilities; final amount commensurate with training/experience and determined per CMG Fair Market Value compensation review

Qualifications
- D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school, with successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency and completion of a fellowship in Spine Surgery
- Board Certified / Board Eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS)
- Active or eligible District of Columbia medical license
- Eligible for and able to maintain medical staff privileges at GW Hospital and a faculty appointment at GW SMHS
