Product Engineer - Mechanical
PRODUCT ENGINEER – MECHANICAL
Your role
As a Product Engineer - Mechanical, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, validation, and continuous improvement of mechanical components and assemblies used in hardware and product engineering projects. You will leverage your expertise in mechanical design, thermal management, structural analysis, manufacturing processes, and systems integration to develop innovative, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. Working within cross-functional teams, you will ensure designs meet performance, quality, manufacturability, and automotive industry requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Select and specify appropriate mechanical components for hardware and product engineering projects.
- Design and optimize thermal management solutions to ensure effective heat dissipation and thermal performance.
- Perform structural analysis to evaluate mechanical strength, durability, and product integrity.
- Conduct analytical calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations to validate mechanical designs.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using CAD tools.
- Ensure mechanical designs are manufacturable, scalable, and cost-efficient by applying knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify, assess, and mitigate potential product and system failures.
- Define and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements to ensure proper fit, form, and function.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and engineering processes.
- Execute projects following established mechanical engineering methodologies, standards, and best practices.
- Develop and validate designs in compliance with MCAD engineering processes and workflows.
- Design and simulate plastic components using industry-standard modeling and simulation techniques.
- Design mechanical enclosures and housings while ensuring electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and minimizing electromagnetic interference (EMI).
- Specify and integrate optical components and interfaces into mechanical assemblies when required.
- Support product development activities in compliance with ASPICE processes and automotive quality standards.
- Manage requirements, traceability, and engineering documentation using Polarion or equivalent requirements management tools.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Your background:
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering field.
· Experience in mechanical design and product development for hardware-based systems.
· Strong knowledge of thermal management and heat dissipation principles.
· Hands-on experience performing structural analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
· Proficiency with CAD software for 3D modeling and detailed engineering drawings.
· Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
· Experience conducting FMEA and risk assessment activities.
· Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T principles.
· Experience designing plastic and metal mechanical components and assemblies.
· Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and EMI considerations in enclosure design.
· Familiarity with optical component integration in mechanical systems.
· Experience working within ASPICE or similar automotive development processes.
· Experience using Polarion or comparable requirements management and traceability tools.
· Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and global engineering teams.
· Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal).
