Job Summary

KBR is seeking an experienced MBSE Systems Engineer to support a Department of War program utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering methodologies and digital engineering practices.

In this role, you will independently develop, manage, and analyze system architecture models across the full systems engineering lifecycle, supporting activities from requirements definition through design, integration, verification, and validation. Working closely with program leadership, customers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will contribute to the development of model-based solutions that improve system understanding, architectural consistency, and decision-making across complex defense systems. This position serves as a key contributor to architecture development, requirements management, technical reviews, and model governance activities while supporting alignment with Department of War frameworks and acquisition processes. The role also provides opportunities to mentor junior engineers and help advance MBSE adoption and digital engineering maturity across the program.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Independently develop, maintain, and manage SysML/UML architecture models using Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architecture, and related MBSE tools, including functional, logical, and physical architecture views.

  • Lead requirements engineering activities including requirements elicitation, decomposition, allocation, traceability, validation, and verification across the systems engineering lifecycle.

  • Establish, implement, and maintain modeling standards, conventions, profiles, and governance processes to support model quality and consistency across program repositories.

  • Manage architecture model configuration and collaborative development activities within TeamWork Cloud, including branching, merging, baseline control, and version management.

  • Lead MBSE modeling efforts supporting system development from concept definition through integration, test, delivery, and sustainment activities.

  • Prepare and present model-based artifacts, architecture views, technical briefings, and supporting documentation for internal and customer technical reviews.

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for MBSE activities, coordinating with hardware, software, integration, test, and program management teams to maintain architectural alignment.

  • Support development and maintenance of program artifacts aligned with Department of War architecture frameworks, acquisition milestones, engineering reviews, and program processes.

  • Mentor junior systems engineers on SysML modeling techniques, tool usage, systems engineering best practices, and model governance processes.

  • Manage engineering action items, architecture deliverables, schedules, risks, and modeling task execution to support program objectives.

  • Other duties as assigned in support of mission and business requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Active Secret security clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 5–12 years of Systems Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering experience supporting complex systems throughout the systems lifecycle.

  • Experience developing and managing SysML and UML architectures using Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw, or comparable MBSE modeling tools.

  • Experience supporting Department of War programs using DoDAF architecture products, requirements traceability, technical reviews, and systems engineering lifecycle processes.

  • Experience authoring and reviewing technical documentation including specifications, architecture descriptions, verification plans, interface documentation, and technical reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a technical lead for MBSE implementation or architecture development efforts on Department of War programs.

  • Experience using TeamWork Cloud for enterprise model management, collaborative development, and configuration control.

  • Experience integrating MBSE practices with program management, manufacturing, producibility, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), or Bill of Materials (BOM) activities.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, PLM tools, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience supporting Digital Engineering initiatives, digital thread activities, or model-centric systems development environments.

  • INCOSE ASEP, CSEP, or related Systems Engineering certification.
