The Patient Care Coordinator is the first point of contact, delivering excellent customer service to patients and visitors both in person or by phone as well as acting as a liaison between patients and providers throughout the administrative flow of the patient experience. Performs all core front and back office duties with increased independence and demonstrated proficiency. Typically supports or independently handles routine and basic healthcare services to ensure smooth clinic operational excellence in support of Providence patient and their families.

The Staffing Resource Department is a float pool of Patient Care Coordinators which serves the PMG clinics in the Portland Metro area (Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington, and Yamhill counties).  You will serve patients seen in Primary Care, Pediatrics, and Specialty Care. Shifts are generally 8 or 10 hours with no weekend work required. If you are interested in variety and working with a supportive, tight-knit team, the float pool is the place for you!

  • Premium Float pay included
  • May be eligible for mileage reimbursement 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the first point of contact, providing exceptional customer service to patients and visitors in person and by phone. 
  • Act as a liaison between patients, providers, and care teams to ensure a smooth patient experience. 
  • Perform front and back-office duties, including scheduling, registration, insurance verification, updating demographic information and patient support. 
  • Maintain clinic efficiency through accurate documentation and adherence to workflows within the electronic medical record (EPIC). 
  • Demonstrate growth and proficiency in supporting Providence’s mission of compassionate, high-quality care. 

Able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities 

Required Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience in medical/healthcare setting.
  • Experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast paced environment, including handling confidential data with discretion.
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience.
