We are seeking a Senior Director to oversee functional financial services for our Advanced Mission Systems (formally ES) sector.

As a senior member of the Finance Leadership Team, the Senior Director of Financial Services will provide enterprise level strategic financial leadership, collaborating with leaders in the Business Areas, Functions and internal Finance teams to align financial strategy with our organizational objectives within the $8B Advanced Mission Systems (AMS) Sector. Leading a large geographical diverse finance team of approximately 80 professionals in the sector's Functional Finance Services organization, the role oversees operational excellence and ensures Finance operates as a trusted advisor to functional leadership. The role is responsible for driving financial performance, cost management, and compliant financial execution. This includes leading the strategy and execution of Functional Cost Management for all functional groups, including Operations and Engineering. The role will oversee critical components of our financial operations and government compliance, including rate management, asset and government property management, and labor compliance. The role will also be accountable for advancing financial transformation through established and emerging processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the sector's compliant financial operations, including setting strategy and overseeing execution of financial planning and reporting, cost management and organizational investment opportunities.
  • Lead the strategy, execution and optimization of functional cost management across all corporate functions to ensure alignment with business priorities and financial objectives.
  • Serve as strategic advisor and provide financial guidance to senior executives including the VP of Finance, sector functional executives, and sector President, by delivering actionable financial insights and recommendations that support business priorities, operational efficiency and long-term value creation.
  • Oversee rate management, government property, labor compliance, asset management to ensure adherence to applicable government compliance and contractual requirements.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate fiscal controls and standards, and ensure the compliant and timely preparation and interpretation of financial reports. Oversee and partner within finance to support regular audit activity.
  • Lead the work of a multidisciplinary Finance team, inspiring high performance, innovation and performance excellence in alignment with the BAE Systems behaviors and cultural principles.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • 15+ years of work experience in Finance within the Government Aerospace & Defense industry.
  • Exposure to financial Audits and experience working directly with DCAA, DCMA and other U.S. Government agencies.
  • Extensive U.S. Government Contracting knowledge including FAR, DFARS and CAS rules and regulations.
  • Requires use of advanced analytics, conceptual & innovative thinking (i.e., identifying solutions),
  • Routinely impacts quality, timeliness of results, planning and revenues or budget; frequently sets policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with business leadership at the C suite and Executive level to recommend and analyze strategic business decisions utilizing data driven solutions.
  • Negotiates internally, at higher levels. Ability to influence key stakeholders throughout the organization; recommend, drive and implement change based on best practices
  • Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to achieve results through others and a focus on inclusive leadership.
  • Previous experience leading large matrixed finance teams with accountability for execution, accuracy and results.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Master's Degree preferred.
Financial Planning & Analysis tools such as Hyperion and Oracle.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $194600 - $330800

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
