Loads, operates and unloads steam autoclaves.Places processed bedding, feed and other related items into assembled, sanitized cages.Maintains detailed records of maintenance schedules, detergent and disinfectant use, cage washer and autoclave performance tests.Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on autoclaves and cage washers.Disposes waste materials.Sweeps, mops and disinfects cage wash areas at the end of each shift and takes all trash to dumpster.Receives and stocks feed and bedding in storage area.Understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions.Able to read and write in order to maintain records, read instructions, labels, etc.Will interact and work with faculty, students, staff, and visitors in a respectful and courteous manner.Available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidaysPhysical RequirementsStand, walk, or otherwise move about campus on a continuous basis.Lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.Ability to ascend/descend stairs on a regular basis.Ability to work under environmental conditions that could require the use of safety equipment.Specialty Occupational Health requirements up to date and complete.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or graduation equivalent preferred.Preferred QualificationsClassified Title: BU Animal Cage Washer-SSR Job Posting Title (Working Title): Animal Cage Washer (Research Animal Resources)   Role/Level/Range: USKILLD4/01/BU  Starting Salary Range: $19.00 per hour, increases to $22.00 after 12 months Employee group: Full Time Schedule: M-F / 8-430 or 7-330 / some weekends and holidays FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Location: School of Medicine Campus  Department name: Research Animal Resources   Personnel area: University Administration
