JOB TITLE:  

Marketing & Communications Student Intern

JOB PURPOSE:   

The College of Business Marketing & Communications Office is seeking student interns to support a variety of marketing, communications, and digital media projects. Interns will gain hands-on experience working with professional staff while contributing to projects that promote the college's students, faculty, programs, events, and alumni.

Applicants may express interest in one or more focus areas:

  • Photo/Video: Capture photography and video at events and assist with editing and organizing media assets.
  • Communications/Web: Assist with writing news stories and press releases, updating website content, and helping maintain accurate online information.
  • Social Media: Help plan and coordinate social media content, create engaging posts, monitor platform activity, and support daily engagement across college social media channels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Support marketing and communications initiatives for the College of Business.
  • Assist with planning, creating, and publishing content across digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff on projects, campaigns, and special events.
  • Attend college events as assigned to capture content or provide communications support.
  • Maintain organized digital files and follow established brand standards.
  • Work independently while meeting deadlines and communicating project progress.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Depending on the assigned focus area, responsibilities may include:

Photo/Video

  • Photograph and record video at college events.
  • Edit photos and short-form video for marketing and social media use.
  • Organize and archive digital media assets.

Communications/Web

  • Draft news stories, press releases, and other written communications.
  • Update and maintain website content for accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist with proofreading and editing marketing materials.

Social Media

  • Help develop and maintain a social media content calendar.
  • Create graphics, captions, and other content for social media platforms.
  • Monitor social media accounts, respond or route inquiries as appropriate, and track engagement.
  • Identify opportunities to highlight students, faculty, events, and accomplishments.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and marketing planning meetings.
  • Assist with promotional materials and special projects.
  • Support event setup or coordination as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the College of Business marketing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • HS Diploma and some college
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable and able to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Experience with photography, videography, or photo/video editing software.
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, InDesign, or Illustrator).
  • Experience with website content management systems or basic HTML is helpful but not required.

On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus, understanding our location is at 7,220 feet above sea level.
