Job Description:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to gather data on patients' physical, emotional, and social health status.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans with specific goals and interventions based on assessment data.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient responses to interventions, adjusting care plans as necessary and documenting progress.
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies to empower them in managing their health.
  • Facilitate effective hand-off communication by clearly and concisely transferring patient information during shift changes or transitions between departments.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals through regular communication and teamwork to ensure coordinated and optimal patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, treatments, changes in condition, and care plans.
  • Engage in continuous professional development by attending workshops, pursuing relevant certifications, and reflecting on practice to maintain clinical competencies and improve patient care.
  • Oversee daily operations and patient care, ensuring compliance with policies, managing staffing needs, providing leadership, and addressing issues.
  • Perform point of care testing to provide immediate diagnostic results, enabling timely decision-making and treatment adjustments.
  • Participate in performance improvement projects by identifying areas for enhancement, implementing changes, and evaluating results to improve patient care quality and outcomes.

$20,000 Sign-on Bonus and $3,000 Relocation Bonus for eligible applicants

  • Terms: 12-month Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation.

Unit Highlights:
  • AdventHealth Orlando Cardiovascular Surgery has 7 CVOR’s and one hybrid one.
  • We perform a full array of cardiovascular surgeries including bypass, valve replacement/repair, TAVR, heart transplant, lung transplant, multiorgan transplant, VAD insertions, Impella transplant, ECMO     and pediatric congenital heart procedures. Ventricular assist device, Impella insertion, Aortic aneurysm repair & aortic dissection
  • The thoracic line has 3 OR’s, one equipped with a Davinci XI robot.
  • A variety of lung esophageal, and chest procedures are done including HIOC (heated intraoperative chemotherapy) cases for mesothelioma.
  • We performed over 3,600 Cardiovascular and thoracic specific surgeries last year. Our Cardiovascular program is recognized as an ELSO Center of excellence for both adults and pediatrics, has a Nationally accredited TAVR program, and our heart transplant team is ranked 5th in the nation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to lead the employees within the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit in the delivery of patient care
  • Ability to lead performance improvement initiatives on the Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit
  • Ability to think critically in relation to the operations of the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit and delivery of complex patient care
  • Ability to manage the business of healthcare delivery on the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit
  • Able to assist and mentor others in relation to the complex technology utilized on the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit
  • Excellent clinical practice knowledge and is able to apply this knowledge to the unit setting
  • Ability to influence relationships and behaviors in relation to meeting the needs of the unit
  • Acts as a role model for professionalism on the Cardiothoracic Surgical unit

Education:
  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]
  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
  • Master's of Nursing [Preferred]
Work Experience:
  • 1+ experience in cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, or cardiac ICU setting or cardiovascular operating room experience [Required]
  • Prior management experience [Preferred]
Additional Information:
  • Successful completion of traineeship for one (1) year minimum.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) [Required]
