Job Description:
The Financial Resource Management (FRM) team is responsible for optimizing the firm's financial resources across its derivatives businesses, including capital, and counterparty risk. As part of the xVA Desk, the team partners closely with Sales, Trading, Structuring, Quantitative Analytics, Risk Management, Treasury, and Technology to ensure that derivative pricing appropriately reflects the economic cost of the bank's resources while supporting client activity and business growth.
The Associate role provides broad exposure across all asset classes and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to derivative pricing, structuring, resource optimization, and strategic initiatives that influence the firm's derivatives business.
The successful candidate will work with senior members of the desk to develop solutions that optimize capital, funding, liquidity, and counterparty credit resources while enhancing the bank's xVA framework and pricing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the pricing and structuring of derivative transactions across all major asset classes, ensuring accurate incorporation of xVA and financial resource costs.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the bank's xVA framework, methodologies, and analytics across rates, FX, credit, commodities, and equities businesses.
- Analyze the impact of capital, funding, liquidity, balance sheet, and counterparty credit constraints on derivative transactions and client portfolios.
- Assist in identifying optimization opportunities that improve the efficient use of the bank's financial resources while supporting business objectives.
- Partner with Sales and Trading teams to evaluate transaction economics and develop resource-efficient client solutions.
- Develop strong relationships across Front Office businesses and become a trusted partner to traders, salespeople, structurers, quants, and risk managers.
- Collaborate with Quantitative Analytics, Technology, Risk, Treasury, and Product Control teams on strategic initiatives and model enhancements.
- Support the development of analytical tools and reporting infrastructure used to measure and manage xVA-related impacts.
Depth & Scope:
- Gathers, researches information and analyzes the market
- Executes detailed data analysis and valuation
- Provides in-depth market reports and expert recommendations
- Identifies issues affecting clients and provides recommendations to remedy
- Develops deep client relationships and presents new ideas to clients
- Executes trades and secures deals with new clients
- Keeps market-making traders informed of relevant issues with their customers and products
- Obtains market prices from market-making traders and executes the trade
- Ensures all trades are confirmed with the broker/dealer
- Inputs trades (post execution), and Verifies transactions meet company policies and followed approved guidelines
- Researches and resolves trade discrepancies
- Confirms trade blotters against trades booked in systems
- Coordinates with back office on all failed trade status and communicates to front office
- Coordinates with back office on position breaks and reports to the front office
- Assists traders in mark-to-market process
- Coordinates trade reconciliation discrepancy resolution with back office
- Looks for ways to improve work flow efficiencies
- Reads and understands the Trading Supervision Standard
- Demonstrates governance, control and risk management behaviours in alignment with TD policies and practices
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, or specialized training / equivalent work experience
- 3+ Years of related experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, establishes priorities, and possesses strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills
- Management experience and solid computer skills a must
Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand how derivatives businesses operate across asset classes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools; programming experience in Python, or similar languages is a must.
- Knowledge of derivatives products and financial markets.
- Understanding of valuation adjustments, counterparty risk, capital, funding, liquidity, or quantitative finance concepts.
- Experience with quantitative modeling, analytics, or financial resource optimization is a plus.
