- Marble Falls Hospital (M-F only) - 7:30a-4:30p
- Oak Hill Clinic/Hospital (it's combined) - 6:45a- 3:15p
- Buda Clinic/Hospital (it's combined) - 8a-5p
- River Place Clinic - 7a-4:30p
South Austin Heart - 7a-3p
No required weekends but volunteer shift for Sundays at Marble Falls Hospital 8a-12p
Registry: Must have one of the following at time of hire/transfer: RCS through (CCI) or RDCS through (ARDMS)
Education: Associate's degree or graduate of an accredited Radiology or RCS program required OR 2 years of work experience + registration
Baylor Scott & White Specialty Clinic – Lakeway is an outpatient department designed to manage the healthcare needs of patients in the Lakeway community. This location provides a range of medical services, including cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, orthopedics and much more.
Lakeway is located about 25 miles west of downtown Austin. Lakeway is ideally situated on the south shore of Lake Travis in the scenic Texas Hill Country. Lakeway is a resort community complete with golf courses, tennis courts, marinas, a 65-mile long lake, 100 acres of parkland and trails, and nearly 500 acres of greenbelts. You can enjoy Dining at the famous The Oasis on Lake Travis while enjoying the gorgeous views of the Rolling Hills and the abundance of sailboats floating on the Lake.

Job Summary
The Multi-modality Sonographer performs basic to advanced ultrasound services. These may include abdominal, Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, and small parts. This position examines the patient's clinical history to identify the examination's purpose. It frames the clinical questions the examination should answer and expands the examination as needed.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Perform multiple modality ultrasound procedures using various equipment and techniques. Make necessary measurements for accurate, high-quality results.
- Identifies and defines abnormalities specific to the procedure. Extends the examination scope appropriately, deviating from standard techniques when necessary. Correlates other diagnostic test results with anatomy and function. Utilizes appropriate protection measures during procedures.
- May assist physicians in procedure and operating rooms by performing ultrasound studies. This aids in complex procedures to decrease risk factors.
- Prepares patients for procedures and obtains clinical history, including physical findings and lab data. Fits imaging techniques for comprehensive exams to avoid errors. Explains the purpose of the ultrasound examination to the patient and answers questions.
- Records statistics and performs daily maintenance of the ultrasound Lab and its equipment, reporting all malfunctions as appropriate.
- Acts as a resource to other staff, physicians and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures and studies to optimize patient care.
- Works closely with the ultrasound team to ensure quality processes and adherence to protocols. Assists with unit or organization accreditation activities as delegated.
- Implements protocols as new technology evolves, and ensures implementation and adherence to system standards.
- Assures operation of equipment by performing quality checks following manufacturer's recommendations and troubleshooting equipment as required.
Key Success Factors
- Must be familiar with approved clinical protocols for each type of ultrasound examination to be performed.
- Must meet all qualifications for any two of these modalities: Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, or small parts. Work a minimum of 25% of the time in the second modality. Pediatric and adult scopes are studied as separate specialties by certification.
- Knowledge and ability to apply complex sonographic methods, instrumentation and techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant anatomy and physiology for each different specialty.
- Knowledge of proper infection control, including precautionary procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant laws regarding patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with healthcare providers, including other sonographers, physicians and nurses.
- Skilled in the utilization of computers and medical equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
- EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
- Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Must have TWO of the following: Adv Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), ARRT-S Sonography (ARRT-S), ARRT-VI Interventional Rad (ARRT-VI), Musculoskeletal Sonography (MSK), Reg Congenital Cardiac Sono (RCCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Reg Diag Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Ped. Echocardiography (PE) (RDCS-PE), Reg Diag Med Sono-Abdomen (AB) (RDMS-AB), Reg Diag Med Sono-Breast (BR) (RDMS-BR), RDMS Fetal Echocardiography (RDMS-FE), Reg Diag Med Sono-OB/GYN (OB) (RDMS-OB), RDMS-Pediatric Sonography (PS) (RDMS-PS), Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS), Registered Vascular Tech (RVT):
