The Communications Manager will play a key role in advancing and protecting the company’s reputation through strategic media relations, integrated storytelling, and high-quality communications support. This role is primarily responsible for driving proactive media engagement across traditional and emerging media platforms, while also contributing to content development and communications initiatives that support business priorities.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with solid media instincts, strategic thinking capability, and excellent writing skills. You are able to identify compelling stories, translate business priorities into engaging communications, and build trusted relationships with media and internal stakeholders. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable balancing external communications, content development, and reputation-sensitive projects.

What You’ll Do

Media Relations & Strategic Communications

  • Develop and execute strategic media relations plans that strengthen the company’s corporate reputation and support business priorities.
  • Drive integrated media engagement across traditional, digital, social, and emerging media platforms to deliver impactful and consistent storytelling.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, and key external stakeholders, while gathering meaningful market insights, media sentiment, and stakeholder perspectives to support communications and business decisions.
  • Identify proactive storytelling opportunities, monitor emerging trends and reputation-sensitive topics, and provide strategic recommendations to help shape communications plans and anticipate potential risks.
  • Regularly monitor, analyze and report on media results, providing insights that reflect the effectiveness of communication efforts and inform future strategies.

Content & Communications Support

  • Partner closely with External Communications, Digital Communications, and Internal Communications colleagues to support integrated campaigns, communications initiatives, and aligned messaging across channels.
  • Draft and edit a range of communications materials including press releases, media statements, key messages, executive remarks, Q&A documents, feature stories, and social content in both English and Chinese.
  • Support content planning and media engagement activities including interviews, press briefings, media events, and issue-response support.

Communications Governance

  • Serve as a communications consultant in review and approval processes, assessing whether marketing and communications materials align with company standards, social and cultural sensitivities, and corporate reputation considerations.
  • Identify and help evaluate potential reputational risks across external communications and marketing materials, providing guidance and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in media relations, corporate communications, public relations, or content-driven communications roles within a multinational company or international PR agency.
  • Strong understanding of the evolving media landscape and established relationships with key media contacts and influencers.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic media engagement plans across traditional media, digital media, and social/influencer platforms.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate external insights, media intelligence, and stakeholder feedback into strategic communications recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive communications topics with sound judgment and strong reputation awareness.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Strong stakeholder management, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and functions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently.
