Senior Civil Designer

KBR, as part of the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Linewide Alliance, is proud to be helping deliver one of Australia's most significant infrastructure projects.

SRL is a city-shaping program that will transform how people live, work and move around Melbourne. The 90km orbital rail line will connect every major train line, link key precincts, and support thriving communities across the city. SRL East, the first stage of the project, will deliver 26km of twin underground tunnels and six new stations between Cheltenham and Box Hill.

As part of the Linewide Alliance, KBR is delivering critical design services across civil, structural, track, drainage, power, systems and infrastructure disciplines that will support safe and reliable operations of the future rail network.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Designer to join our growing design team supporting the delivery of this landmark project.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership to a team of designers and drafters while undertaking complex civil design and modelling activities. You will play a key role in the development of concept and detailed designs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions that shape Melbourne's future.

While initially supporting the Suburban Rail Loop Alliance, this is a permanent opportunity with KBR, providing exposure to major infrastructure projects across Australia throughout your career.

About You

You are a technically capable and collaborative design professional with a passion for delivering complex infrastructure projects.

You will bring:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in civil design and drafting within infrastructure or related sectors.
  • Strong experience using OpenRoads Designer (ORD), 12d, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Standards and industry design practices.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design activities.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to review, verify and approve design outputs and models.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior designers.
  • A proactive mindset focused on quality, innovation and continuous improvement.
