Team / Role Overview:
Credit Risk Review provides independent, objective, reliable, valued and timely assurance over the effectiveness of credit risk management to identify, monitor and mitigate current and emerging risks across Citibank.
The Senior Lead Reviewer is responsible for independently managing all aspects of his or her assigned Review Entity. Responsibilities include execution of Business Monitoring and Reviews in accordance with the CRR Manual, monitoring and evaluation of portfolios, strategies, and credit risks, assessment of the effectiveness of credit risk management of assigned businesses, proposal of pragmatic solutions to risk and control issues, and maintaining ongoing contact with a Review Entity’s management through continuous Business Monitoring and corrective action follow-up where applicable. The role also incorporates the effective use of Citi‑approved AI‑enabled tools to enhance analytical depth, streamline review execution, and strengthen trend identification while maintaining full reviewer judgment.
What you’ll do:
- Assess the effectiveness of credit risk management at Citi and the ability of the Business and Independent Risk to identify, monitor and mitigate current and emerging credit risks across Citigroup and Citibank
- Manage CRR Wholesale Review Entities through quarterly Business Monitoring and periodic Reviews leveraging AI tools to support data extraction, thematic analysis, and risk identification where appropriate
- Assess the quality of assigned portfolios and relationships, including identification and evaluation of emerging risks
- Assess the quality and adequacy of credit analysis and exposure analysis as well as accuracy and appropriateness of risk ratings and classifications of corporate, commercial and high-net worth relationships
- Assess the effectiveness of the credit risk processes and standards of assigned Review Entity to promote leading practices and identify opportunities for improvements
- Assess Business and Risk staffing levels to determine the effects on assigned Review Entity
- Prepare Credit Assessment Documents in accordance with and at the quality standards required by the CRR Manual and Review Guides, incorporating AI tools as appropriate for drafting support, document comparison, and consistency checks
- Evaluate the appropriateness of Corrective Action Plans resulting from Reviews or Business Monitoring, and subsequent validation of the effectiveness of the same after implementation by the Business
- Maintain accountability for the quality and consistency of work products that include Credit Assessment Documents, Sample Rationale Documents, and CRR Wholesale Review Reports created for the assigned Review Entity
- Assist CRR Wholesale Team Managers, Segment Heads, and Head of CRR Wholesale on regional and/or global tasks
- Communicate concerns and/or emerging risks that may impact the assigned Review Entity to Credit Review Team Managers and CRR Wholesale Senior Management
- Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and internal policies, exercising sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and transparently escalating, managing and reporting control issues
- Travel requirement - 25% of the time.
What we’ll need from you:
- 10+ years previous experience required Work experience in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or similar with Credit or financial statement analysis experience
- Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and trends and anticipate horizon issues
- Fully conversant in credit policy matters
- Good knowledge of capital markets products, including derivatives
- Ability to recognize emerging risks, including operational risk
- Expert in risk analysis and risk management processes for one or more products and lending areas
- Developed project management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and comfortable using AI‑enabled productivity and analytics tools consistent with Citi’s policies
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships and exert influence without direct authority
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority
- Regulatory experience or relevant experience in a similar role at another institution is desirable
- Language skills preferred, depending on region
- Knowledge of Citi's organization and systems preferred
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
- Senior Credit Officer designation preferred.
