Buyer, Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS)
We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.
In this position...
We’re seeking a high-energy, forward-thinking Purchasing and Supply Chain professional to lead our commodity sourcing and commercial strategy within our ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist Systems) team. This role is central to driving global competitiveness, strengthening supply chain resilience, and delivering cost, quality, and launch success across our vehicle programs. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex problems, and want high visibility with senior leadership, your impact starts here.
What you'll do...
This role offers a high-impact opportunity to shape the future of ADAS at Ford while working across global teams and directly influencing vehicle programs. You’ll drive strategic sourcing decisions, develop cost roadmaps, and build strong supplier partnerships in a role with strong exposure to leadership and clear pathways for growth.
As our ADAS Category Buyer, you will be the key driver of sourcing strategy, supplier performance, and cost optimization for an assigned ADAS commodity area (such as cameras, radars, LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors, and electronic control modules):
* Execute Sourcing strategy: Own sourcing responsibilities for assigned ADAS commodities (such as cameras, radars, LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors, and electronic control modules) to ensure security of supply at the best total cost.
* Lead Program Sourcing: Lead program sourcing activities for future ADAS applications and ensure suppliers are sourced on time, meeting technical, quality, and program target costs.
* Cost Leader: Deliver end-to-end cost reduction goals and targets for assigned ADAS categories by deep-diving supplier cost structures (including electronic and mechanical Bill of Materials) to drive optimal pricing.
* Supplier Owner: Establish and strengthen global supplier relationships, enabling Ford to better align with and influence supplier technology and capacity roadmaps. Hold regular business reviews with key partners.
* Strategic Architect: Conduct RFI/RFQs and execute sourcing strategies with industry-leading partners, including managing relationships multiple tiers deep into the supply chain to reduce risk.
* Cross-Functional Partner: Collaborate with Product Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Program teams to align sourcing decisions with business needs.
* Risk & Claims Manager: Manage emerging supplier issues (e.g., supply constraints, quality concerns, commercial disputes) and proactively drive internal risk mitigation and resilience strategies.
* Market Intelligence Lead: Analyze ADAS market trends, pricing indices, and supply-demand dynamics to inform sourcing strategy and mitigate risk.
* Continuous Improvement Driver: Challenge existing processes and implement improvements that enhance efficiency and commercial outcomes.
You'll have…
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
* 3+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain roles
* 1+ years of experience working within the automotive industry
* Strong experience in supplier negotiations and commercial management
* Strong analytical skills with experience in cost analysis and sourcing decisions
* Solid understanding of purchasing systems, policies, and program lifecycle
* Ability to influence stakeholders and communicate effectively with senior leadership
* High-energy, organized, and self-driven mindset with strong problem-solving skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with limited direction
Even better, you may have...
* 1+ years with ADAS, electronics, sensing, semi-conductor or software technologies in the automotive or consumer electronics industries
* Knowledge of automotive supply chain structure, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier networks
* Demonstrated ability to translate high-level category strategies into tactical program execution.
* Highly effective communication skills, with the ability to seamlessly transition from bottom-up technical details to concise, clear executive messaging.
