About Melius
Melius is building the creative canvas for agents.
We're creating a new category of AI-native creative tooling: a collaborative workspace where humans and agents generate, edit, and orchestrate images and videos together. Instead of jumping between fragmented tools, prompts, and workflows, Melius gives artists, creators, and teams a single canvas to direct AI systems end-to-end.
Our platform combines real-time collaborative infrastructure, multimodal AI models, and agentic workflows to help brands, studios, and creative teams scale high-quality creative output faster than ever before.
We're based in New York City, backed by top-tier investors, and focused on building one of the defining creative software companies of the AI era.
The Role
We're looking for a Product Designer to shape how people direct AI systems on the canvas.
This is a hard design problem with almost no precedent. Chat is a dead end for creative work, and traditional creative tools weren't built for collaborators that act on their own. You'll be figuring out what the right interface actually is: how a canvas makes an agent's intent legible, how a user redirects work mid-flight, and how a workflow that runs for twenty minutes across dozens of steps stays comprehensible.
Designers at Melius own their work end-to-end, from early problem framing through to pixel-level polish in production. We value designers who prototype to think, argue from first principles, and hold an uncompromising bar for craft.
What You'll Do
Own major surfaces end-to-end: framing the problem, exploring broadly, and staying with it through shipped detail.
Design the interaction language for agents on a canvas: how they show what they're doing, what they propose, where they are in a long task, and how a user intervenes.
Invent interfaces for AI creative work that go beyond the prompt box, including direct manipulation, node graphs, and spatial editing.
Design for real-time multiplayer, where multiple humans and agents work on the same canvas at once.
Build and evolve our design system so speed and consistency compound rather than trade off.
Prototype at whatever fidelity the question demands, from Figma to code.
Talk to artists, studios, and brand teams regularly, and turn what you learn into product decisions.
Work closely with founders, engineering, and product to define the future of AI-native creative workflows.
What We're Looking For
4+ years designing production software at high-growth technology companies or startups.
A portfolio of shipped work that shows depth of thinking, not just polished screens. We want to see how you got there.
Fluency with complex, information-dense interfaces. Canvases, editors, timelines, or graph-based tools rather than marketing pages and dashboards.
Product-minded, with strong ownership and the ability to operate autonomously in ambiguity.
Exceptional taste in interaction design, typography, and motion.
Comfortable prototyping your own ideas, whether in Figma, code, or something scrappier.
Excited about the intersection of AI, creativity, and tooling.
Comfortable working in-person from our NYC office 5 days a week.
Bonus points if you've worked on:
Creative tools (design, video, 3D, audio)
Real-time multiplayer systems
AI image/video generation products
Your own creative practice outside of software
Comp / Benefits
Competitive salary + meaningful equity ownership
Medical, dental, and vision coverage
Wellness benefit (gym, massages, etc.)
