Role Description
Form Energy is hiring an experienced and dynamic Training Manager to own training operations, training systems, and technical writing for our manufacturing site. This role reports into our Senior Manager of Manufacturing Operations. As part of our team, you will build and run the programs that take associates and technicians from day one to full qualification — and keep them current as our processes and products evolve. You will own the site's learning management systems, qualification and certification framework, and the library of standardized work instructions and SOPs that production runs on. You will be the critical link between engineering, quality, EHS, and the factory floor, translating technical knowledge into training that sticks. If you thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and are passionate about developing people and building workforce capability at scale, we encourage you to apply. Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
Own site training operations end to end: new hire onboarding, on-the-job training (OJT), cross-training, and requalification across all production areas and shifts of a 24/7 operation
Build and maintain a structured qualification and certification program for associates and technicians, including skills matrices, training-within-industry (TWI) methods, and train-the-trainer programs
Own the site's training systems, including the learning management system (LMS), training records, and compliance tracking, ensuring audit-ready documentation at all times
Lead technical writing for the site: create, standardize, and control work instructions, SOPs, and visual aids in partnership with process engineering, quality, and EHS
Manage document control and revision processes so floor documentation always reflects the current, approved process
Develop career progression and upskilling pathways for associates and technicians that support retention, internal promotion, and flexible staffing across areas
Partner with production managers to plan training capacity for hiring ramps, new line startups, and product changes without disrupting output
Measure training effectiveness with metrics/KPIs (time-to-qualification, training compliance, first-pass yield and safety performance of new hires) and continuously improve programs based on results
Ensure safety and compliance training requirements (e.g., OSHA, LOTO, powered industrial vehicles, hazardous materials) are met in partnership with EHS
Lead and mentor a team of trainers and technical writers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and continuously learning environment
What you'll bring:
5+ years of experience in training, learning & development, or workforce development in a manufacturing setting, including experience managing people
8+ years of overall experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Engineering, Business, or a technical discipline
Demonstrated experience building qualification/certification programs, skills matrices, and OJT structures for hourly and technical workforces
Strong technical writing skills with experience creating and controlling work instructions, SOPs, and visual standards; familiarity with document control systems
Experience administering an LMS and maintaining audit-ready training records
Working knowledge of adult learning principles and structured training methods (TWI, ADDIE, or similar)
Ability to work with and develop training performance metrics/KPIs
Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
Strong communication and organizational skills
Where you'll work:
This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV—an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
