The successful candidate will help strengthen inventory accuracy, costing, ERP processes, operational controls, and financial reporting across a growing multi-division organization.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the CFO and as a key member of the Finance leadership team, the Inventory & Cost Accounting Manager will work closely with executive leadership to strengthen inventory controls, improve costing processes, and enhance financial reporting across the organization while building a foundation for future leadership opportunities. will oversee and operate the day-to-day accounts payable and spend management processes, which primarily consists of management of invoice approval flow, ensuring correct coding and timely payment of invoices, applicable journal entries to the general ledger, and expense and credit card reconciliation.

This role will be responsible for leading the accounting, valuation, costing, and financial management of inventory across multiple business divisions and warehouse locations. This role serves as the company’s subject matter expert for inventory accounting, partnering with Operations, Warehouse Management, Supply Chain, Controllers, and the Finance department to ensure inventory is accurately valued, properly controlled, and reported in accordance with U.S. GAAP. 

This role also requires an individual who thrives under pressure, embraces ownership, and is motivated by solving complex operational and financial challenges. It is best suited for someone with a strong personality, outstanding communication skills, and a proactive leadership style who enjoys taking initiative and delivering results.

.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Own inventory accounting and financial reporting across multiple divisions and locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory valuation using standard cost, average cost, and other appropriate valuation methodologies.
  • Manage cost rolls, standard cost updates, cost adjustments, and inventory revaluations.
  • Analyze purchase price variances, manufacturing variances, and inventory discrepancies.
  • Ensure inventory subledgers reconcile to the general ledger.
  • Partner with warehouse and manufacturing managers on physical inventories, cycle counts, inventory movement, and inventory accuracy.
  • Partner with Controllers to ensure accurate month-end and year-end financial reporting.
  • Lead and support physical inventory counts and inventory audit activities.
  • Develop and improve inventory controls, policies, and costing procedures.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and inventory reporting schedules.
  • Support external auditors and provide inventory-related audit documentation.
  • Recommend process improvements within ERP systems and inventory workflows.
  • Travel domestically and internationally, as needed, to support warehouse operations, inventory audits, ERP implementations, and finance initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
