The PCG R&D Associate Chemist of Production System Database Team is responsible for creating and maintaining, product configuration and custom formula development programs across PCG divisions. Position may be responsible for self-managing work, reporting on results, working through marketing requests, and investigating LSR’s and database related complaint analysis and resolution. Position responsibilities include, project management, formula development and evaluation, contributing to department strategy, customer complaint resolution, report writing, and mentoring of technician(s) or temporary employees. Areas of focus will be PCG internal and external customer support, database creation and maintenance, and continuous improvements to color files and program.

This role is not hybrid and will be located at Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.
• Works with Group Leader to build, evaluate and maintain product configuration and database development work. This work will include ordering material, creation of letdown samples, measuring letdown samples, creation of colorant k/s curves, database validation by testing a set of color standards, and uploading the database into Sherwin Williams software. This work allows Global PCG Customers and Facilities to create and adjust custom colors with the Mosaic software.
• Frequent and direct interaction with Global Marketing, Product Development labs, Color labs, and IT teams.
• Develop more in-depth technical and business knowledge regarding custom formula creation for paint products.
• Identifies potential Continuous Improvement opportunities and drives necessary actions for implementation. May lead CI projects of moderate impact or moderate team involvement.
• Accurate documentation and presentation of lab results and technical information
• Plan, schedule, execute work, analyze results, and make recommendations based on those results.
• Identifies, addresses, and resolves issues in partnership with team.
• Seeks opportunities to mentor others and provide training to technician(s) or temporary employees
• Maintains a culture of safety by adhering to all lab safety procedures

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1,etc.)
• Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Enhanced math skills
• Prior experience with visual and computer color matching
• The ability to maintain accurate records
• Proven experience in delivering results while working independently and as part of a team to execute tasks accurately and consistently according to project timelines
• Good understanding of the underlying scientific principles in color science and formulation
• Experience working with multiple business functional group to fulfill customer requests
• Computer Proficiency
• Ability to analyze data
• Ability to maintain project timelines
Preferred:
• BS in Chemistry/Engineering
• Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis
• Strong computer skills
• Understanding of Color/Color Science
Travel Requirements: 10%
