Field Service Diesel Technician

Job Summary:

Completes preventative maintenance and/or basic repair activities on engines and related components at the customer site with minimal direction.

 

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in (Kapolei, HI).

Will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles

  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies

  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

  • Maintain own tools

 

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics

  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality

  • Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources.

  • Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level. 

  • Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts.

  • Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software

     

  • Travel throughout Oahu to support customer locations including construction, healthcare, telecommunications, government, hospitality, industrial, and commercial facilities.
  • Occasionally travel to neighbor islands (Maui, Kauai, Hawaii Island, and Lanai) to assist with maintenance and repair activities as business demands require.
  • Support emergency power restoration efforts during storms, natural disasters, and utility outages.
  • Work in tropical outdoor environments, including high heat, humidity, rain, and coastal conditions.
  • Maintain compliance with Hawaii-specific environmental, transportation, and safety regulations.
  • Represent the Kapolei branch professionally while building strong customer relationships within the local community.

 

DOT
-    A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
-    Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older


-    A current valid license is required for this role
-    This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
-    This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
-    3 years driving experience
-    This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution. 
Locally valid driving permit.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

Experience: 
Minimal level of workshop related experience required.
Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
Locally valid driving permit.
