POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Engineer supports engineering-related activities for the Busbar global line of business. The role provides technical support to projects and assists the Busbar engineering team in executing design and documentation tasks, ensuring alignment with type-tested designs and UL standards while contributing to consistency across projects and manufacturing plants.
This position requires working knowledge of Vertiv's busbar product range and close collaboration with estimation, sales, offering, engineering, and project delivery teams to apply standard designs and type-tested products effectively.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with sales and project teams to understand customer requirements and assist in developing technical solutions aligned with standard, type-tested product offerings.
- Support the preparation and review of technical drawing submissions from the mechanical engineering team prior to release.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of standardized engineering documentation, including drawings and BOMs.
- Participate in cross-functional problem-solving activities to support improvements in engineering and project performance.
- Prepare design drawings and documentation in line with specifications for Busbar packages to support project delivery teams.
- Support plant-to-plant product transfers and new product development initiatives as needed.
- Assist with technical reviews prior to production release to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provide support for technical issues across projects and plants, escalating complex issues as required.
- Support the evaluation of custom and first-of-a-kind projects in coordination with senior engineers and the NPDI team.
- Balance technical requirements with cost, manufacturability, and project timelines under guidance.
- Maintain engineering best practices and contribute to standardization and design reuse efforts.
- Support global projects that may involve multiple code or regional requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of busway products (preferred)
- PC working knowledge (MS Office, CAD, PDM systems, ERP systems)
- Strong Technical and Mechanical aptitude
- Aptitude for problem-solving
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Display a proactive flexible approach to working within a team environment.
- Advantage: BIM & 3D drawing packages (Solidworks & Revit)
- Ability to self-manage, be self-motivated and deliver project milestones.

- Perform various engineering tasks involving such functions as analysis, design, while working from instructions, drawings, proposals, specifications, and other pertinent information.
- Review and analyze a variety of engineering data, documents, and reports.
- Prepare design models for the new project using available design tools and programming, work with sales team, project management, and customers.
- Participate in the investigation of technical problems and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences.
- Own the preparation of necessary design instructions for mechanical design and electrical drafters.
- Prepare Bill of Material for Busbar Assemblies using available tools.
- Prepare shop drawings and other related documents for Production.
- Actively engage in sorting out any issues on the production floor and at site.
- Prepare replies to customer comments on technical submittals in coordination with project management.
- Attend meeting with customers/contractors/consultants for technical discussions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (4-year) in an engineering-related field (minimum)
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (preferred)
- Experience or exposure to low voltage switchgear or busway design (preferred)
- Basic experience with AutoCAD (preferred)
- Familiarity with UL codes and standards (preferred)
- Good organizational and planning skills
