The Role
The Role:
As the Power Platform Factory Shift Lead, you will be the on‑shift senior SME accountable for delivering tenant‑to‑tenant Power Platform migrations at enterprise scale, while maintaining strict operational and solution governance. Power Platform tenant‑to‑tenant migration is not “lift and shift”; it requires controlled preparation (solutions, flows, mappings), disciplined execution and careful post‑migration reconfiguration and validation. You will lead engineers through repeatable runbooks to migrate environments and associated assets (Power Apps, Power Automate, connection references and related components), ensuring quality gates, evidence capture and predictable throughput across the 24x7 factory model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on‑shift technical delivery for Power Platform tenant‑to‑tenant migrations, ensuring runbook adherence and stable throughput.
- Enforce governance and readiness controls: solution packaging standards, dependency checks, environment strategy, identity/connection mapping pre‑reqs.
- Coordinate execution steps for tenant‑to‑tenant moves (where applicable) and ensure pre/post actions are completed (export/import, re‑auth connections, enabling flows, updating endpoints).
- Own defect triage (broken connections, missing references, permissions/roles, environment settings mismatches, selectively unsupported components) and drive closure.
- Coordinate with Entra Apps/Identity disciplines to ensure authentication, app registrations and connector identity prerequisites are in place for successful cutover.
- Produce shift‑level status and evidence packs: migration logs, run results, exception register and sign‑off artefacts.
- Own shift backlog in the ticketing system; prioritise work to align with cutover schedule and downstream dependencies.
- Ensure robust shift handovers with actionable detail and no loss of continuity across the three‑shift model.
- Improve runbooks continuously: incorporate learnings, reduce rework and standardise fixes into repeatable operational steps.
- Escalate product/tool issues with full diagnostic evidence and clear impact statements.
Who You Are
Must‑Have (or equivalent experience):
- Delivered at least one production tenant‑to‑tenant Power Platform migration in a lead/Sr SME capacity, within an enterprise governance context.
- Strong hands‑on expertise in Power Platform administration: environments, Dataverse awareness, solution lifecycle, security roles and operational control.
- Strong experience with migration mechanics: exporting/importing solutions/apps, moving flows into solutions where required, managing connection references and post‑migration reconfiguration.
- Ability to manage runbook‑driven execution in a high‑volume delivery model with quality gates and evidence capture.
- Strong troubleshooting capability across Power Apps/Power Automate failures arising from identity/connectors/permissions/environment configuration.
- Comfortable leading delivery within a 24x7 three‑shift factory model, including formal handovers and shift reporting.
Good‑to‑Have:
- Experience with ALM patterns: source control, pipelines, deployment best practices, environment strategies.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (examples: PL‑200, PL‑400, PL‑600) or equivalent experience.
- Exposure to integration patterns (APIs, Azure functions, service principals) and the impact of tenant change on those dependencies.
- Familiarity with third‑party tooling that supports Power Platform migration and validation when used in enterprise programmes.
- Experience migrating Power Pages / Copilot Studio components where in scope.
Interpersonal & Consulting Skills:
- Balances pace with governance: drives throughput without compromising design controls and compliance standards.
- Speaks “risk and impact” clearly to programme stakeholders; avoids ambiguous status.
- Coaches engineers into consistent delivery habits (templates, checklists, evidence discipline).
- Strong dependency management across disciplines: proactively clears identity/app prerequisites.
- Handles cutover pressure calmly; creates order from complexity during wave execution.
- Operates with a consulting mindset: proposes practical options, makes trade‑offs explicit and documents decisions.
Typical Deliverables / KPIs:
- Throughput: environments/assets migrated per shift vs plan.
- Defect rate: post‑migration failures per wave (connections, flows, app load issues) and reduction trend.
- MTTR: resolution time for migration‑blocking Power Platform defects.
- Evidence capture: completeness of run logs, mapping artefacts and sign‑off proof per wave.
- SLA: on‑time cutover completion and timely escalation of blockers.
Shift / Working Pattern Notes:
- This role operates within a three‑shift 24x7 Factory model. The specific rota will be confirmed, but shift handovers are mandatory and performance is measured on shift outcomes. Peak cutover windows may require schedule flexibility.
