Equipment Cleaner - 2nd Shift

This position is an essential part of Sherwin’s manufacturing team. The role of the Tank Cleaner is to clean totes and tanks using Tank/Tote washer. The role varies from plant to plant, dependent upon batch completion. An Operator may work with others or work independently.

Schedule: 2nd Shift Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 10:30pm 

This position is also eligible for a bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.

Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and vendors. 

  • Clean Process Vessels both manually clean pumps, tanks and valves as well as operate heavy cleaning equipment such as scrubbing machines, high-speed buffers, or wet and dry vacuum.  
  • Perform drum/tote offs when necessary
  • Identifies cleaning problems and determines appropriate remedies.  
  • Follow all EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) regulations and guidelines, including RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) and safety rules and procedures by participating in the plant safety program including the wearing of appropriate safety apparel.
  • Maintain certification to operate forklift and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This includes drum runners, tank tuggers and still operations.  
  • Perform housekeeping duties as assigned and keep area and equipment clean.
  • Properly handle hazardous waste as part of manufacturing operations, maintenance, raw material handling, and clean-up activities to protect personnel, property and the environment.
  • This position will also be classified as a "Hazardous Waste Handler".  
    • Responsible for the direct handling of hazardous waste generated in their area. This includes ensuring hazardous waste is identified, proper containers are used and managed, labeling/marking, adhering to accumulation area requirements, knowing emergency procedures/contingency plan, spill response and clean up.  
    • Perform emergency response procedures in the event of a hazardous material emergency. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have at least one (1) year experience working in a manufacturing or distribution facility
  • Must be able to operate a forklift 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Have at least have one (1) year of work experience operating machinery in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
  • Have at least have one (1) year of work experience monitoring the quality of raw materials and/or finished goods
  • Have at least have one (1) year of experience working in manufacturing and/or experience cleaning processing vessels  
  • Have at least have one (1) year of work experience using material handling equipment (for example: forklifts (stand and sit), pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollies, conveyor belts, etc.)
