About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Risk Analytics Consultant.
The Home Lending Credit Risk team oversees the credit policy and risk management activities for the Home Lending portfolio. Home Lending Credit Risk is looking for an experienced Lead Risk Analytics Consultant to specifically support analysis/reporting/data. This role provides independent second-line oversight to Front Line credit risk decisions and influence of Front Line Risk Decisions.
The Lead Risk Analytics Consultant will be a part of the Home Lending Risk Oversight team that is geographically split between the US & India and will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing trends related to Originations, Servicing, Capital Markets, Portfolio Monitoring, Issue Management, Operational and Compliance Risk.

In this role, you will:
Lead complex initiatives related to business analysis and modeling, including those that are cross functional, with broad impact, and act as key participant in data aggregation, monitoring, and reporting of stress testing and portfolio analysis for Risk Analytics
Review and analyze complex programing models to extract data and manipulate databases to provide statistical and financial modeling specific to businesses supported
Manage the roll out of pilot programs developed as a result of programmed models for supported businesses and product line
Make decisions in complex product strategies, data modeling, and risk exposure, requiring solid understanding of business unit projects and regulatory responses, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that influence and lead Analytic and Reporting to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
Collaborate and consult with peers, less experienced to more experienced managers, to resolve production, project, and regulatory issues, and achieve risk analysts, and common modeling goals

Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Job Expectations:
- To be effective in this position, you will need a good understanding of credit (ideally from a Home Lending perspective), a broad and strategic perspective on risk management, and be fluent in key technical tools of credit risk decisioning.
- Lead complex initiatives related to business analysis and model oversight, including maintaining an independent assessment of L1 risks arising from Front Line decisions and execution processes impacting HFI, MSR, and HFS portfolios. Maintain an independent Risk perspective of all L1 risks across Front Line origination/servicing activities.
- The incumbent would functionally contribute as an SME to the Credit Risk team for Home Lending and influence front line stakeholders.
- Produce a thorough report along with recommendations & present findings to leadership – Credit memo writing.
- Provide quick and statistically sound diagnostic evaluation of any emerging and unexpected credit.
- Lead projects, teams, and mentor. Provide thought leadership where appropriate.
- Monitor Front Line performance, risk indicators, and control outcomes across origination activities to validate effective risk management and ensure appropriate escalation. Monitor Front Line Portfolio performance, risk exposure, net-of-hedge performance, and execution outcomes across HFI, HFS, and MSR activities to validate effective risk management.
- Provide independent credit oversight of Home Lending underwriting standards, guidelines, and processes, by evaluating their design and overall effectiveness to ensure alignment with Enterprise policy, credit risk appetite, regulatory requirements, compliance, fair lending standards, and client outcomes.
Desired Qualifications:
- At least 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, finance, economics, econometrics or computer sciences.
- 5+ years of experience in credit risk analytics.
- 5+ years of advanced programming experience in SAS, R or Python
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong technical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Must have excellent communication skills, high degree of initiative, strong partnering, and interpersonal skills, as well as critical analytical thinking. Must be able to collaborate with Front Line and challenge proposals while maintaining a unique risk point of view.
- Ability to conduct reconciliation efforts and report findings in support of research activities.
- Must possess a results driven attitude committed to quality work.

- Knowledge of SQL & data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI
- Ability to identify and manage complex issues and negotiate solutions within a geographically dispersed organization
- Ability to research and report on a variety of issues using problem solving skills
- Understanding of bank data sets and other industry data sources
