Overview
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) ('direct supervision' means an RN is on the premises and immediately physically available), provides technical nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served.Qualifications
Requirments
- High School Diploma or GED, and Vocational Training.
- One year or less training as an LPN.
- One (1) year or more of clinical experience prefered
- Must have graduated from an approved Licensed Practical Nurse program and completed a 30-hour IV Therapy Course for LPNs, which has been approved by the Florida Board of Nursing pursuant to Rule 64B9-5.006.
- 30-hour IV Therapy Course not applicable to those in CC 670300 - 4S Psych Pav.
Necessary Skills
Required Licensure/Certifications
- Licensed to practice practical nursing in the state of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Successful completion of a 30-hour IV Therapy Course approved by a Florida Board of Nursing provider pursuant to Rule 64B9-5.006.
- 30-hour IV Therapy Course not applicable to those in CC 670300 - 4S Psych Pav.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within ninety (90) days, and then annually, is required for the Psych Unit.
- For 3S Gyn – CC 650301, effective 07/01/2018:
- All current employees are required to have NRP by 07/01/2019.
- New hires and transfers are required to obtain NRP within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
- For 3S Gyn – CC 650301, effective 07/01/2018:
- All current employees are required to have STABLE by 07/01/2019.
- New hires and transfers are required to obtain STABLE within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
