Eaton's Electrical Engineering Services & Systems Division (EESS) is seeking a Service Application Engineer to support customers and sales teams throughout the Central Region.

This is a hybrid position for candidates residing within 50 miles of one of the following Eaton locations:

Ohio: Cincinnati, Columbus, Parma

Indiana: Fort Wayne, Indianapolis

Michigan: Novi, Grand Rapids

Illinois: Chicago

Wisconsin: Appleton, Milwaukee

Minnesota: Duluth, Minneapolis

Missouri: Kansas City, St. Louis

Iowa: Des Moines

This role requires up to 25% travel to customer sites. Travel will primarily consist of day trips, with occasional overnight stays as business needs require.

A company vehicle is provided with this position.

Leads and supports the development of technical service solutions, applications, and proposals for medium to highly complex customer opportunities. Serves as a strategic partner in solution design, pricing strategy, and proposal development to meet customer requirements and business objectives. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored engineering and service solutions that enhance reliability, operational performance, regulatory compliance, and overall customer value.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $108,000 - $158,000 a year. This position is also eligible for a sales incentive program.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the development of technical solutions, proposals, and bid packages for medium to highly complex electrical service opportunities, providing power distribution application support across the Central Region.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to sales teams, channel partners, representatives, consultants, end users, and operations teams by developing competitive technical and commercial proposals for national account, commercial, industrial, utility, and data center customers.
  • Analyze project specifications, develop pricing strategies, prepare cost estimates and scopes of work, and coordinate with subcontractors and third-party vendors to deliver accurate, value-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, operations, and field service teams to develop customized solutions that enhance system reliability, operational performance, safety, and customer value while influencing customer specifications and application requirements.
  • Support the growth of Eaton service offerings, including power system engineering, digital integration solutions, aftermarket services, extended warranty programs, electrical worker training, and service attachment opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement through the development and standardization of pricing models, quotation tools, processes, and best practices that improve proposal quality, efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Lead customer-facing discussions, presentations, and joint sales calls to promote Eaton's engineering services and solution portfolio while identifying additional project opportunities and scope expansion.
  • Support project transition activities, track proposal performance metrics, and maintain a strong customer focus to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Participate in professional development activities, contribute to knowledge sharing, and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Travel up to 25% to support customer engagements, job site visits, and regional business initiatives.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR in lieu of a degree, a minimum of seven (7) years of hands‑on field service and/or proposal generation experience specific to services within the electrical industry, combined with a high school diploma.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in one or more of the following areas: application engineering, proposal development, technical marketing, engineering, sales, strategic planning, operations, or product management.
  • This role is designated as a Regular Driver per Eaton’s Driver Safety Policy and requires a current, unrestricted driver’s license along with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record. Candidates will be subject to a motor vehicle record check upon hire.
  • Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution; Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or NETA Associate Member certification preferred.
  • Experience with electrical power distribution systems, including equipment testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and substation or electrical system installation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience developing complex engineering service solutions and proposals, including solution design, estimating, pricing strategy, labor costing, risk evaluation, and the use of digital configuration and pricing tools.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical service offerings, power distribution equipment, industry standards, and electrical safety practices.
  • Experience supporting Data Center, Industrial, Commercial, Healthcare, Utility, Institutional, Government, and other large-scale customer segments.
  • Working knowledge of the end-to-end sales process, customer channels, proposal negotiations, and cross-functional collaboration to maximize customer and business growth opportunities.
  • Experience developing subcontractor scopes of work, reviewing subcontractor agreements and proposals, evaluating specification compliance, and coordinating third-party resources.
  • Understanding of competitive products, services, and market trends within the electrical services and power distribution industry.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and customer-facing communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to build trusted customer relationships, resolve issues effectively, and deliver exceptional customer service that supports long-term customer satisfaction.
