Job Description

Job Purpose
The Commercial Applications Specialist is responsible for driving sales growth by providing technical expertise and consultative selling for the Biosciences product portfolio. Working closely with Account Managers, the TSS develops customer relationships, identifies new opportunities, delivers scientific presentations, and supports customers in selecting the right solutions for their research workflows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Growth
• Meet or exceed assigned sales targets.
• Develop and execute territory business plans.
• Identify and qualify new business opportunities.
• Expand existing customer accounts through cross-selling and upselling.
• Maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline in Salesforce CRM.
Technical & Application Support
• Provide scientific consultation on Biosciences products and applications.
• Deliver product demonstrations and technical presentations.
• Support product evaluations, trials, and customer training.
• Troubleshoot customer application questions and recommend optimal workflows.
Customer Management
• Build long-term relationships with:
o Principal Investigators (PIs)
o Research Scientists
o Lab Managers
o Core Facilities
o Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical companies
• Conduct regular customer visits and virtual meetings.
• Represent Thermo Fisher at conferences, workshops, and scientific seminars.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Market Intelligence
• Monitor competitor products and market trends.
• Gather customer feedback to support product management.
• Identify emerging research areas and commercial opportunities.

QUALIFICATION & EDUCATION:
• Master's degree in Life Sciences (preferred), or Bachelor's degree with relevant experience.
• Preferred fields:
• Biotechnology
• Biochemistry
• Molecular Biology
• Cell Biology
• Microbiology
• Genetics
• Bioengineering
EXPERIENCE
Typically 3–6 years in:
• Technical sales
• Field applications
• Academic or industrial research
• Molecular biology or cell biology laboratories
• Life science reagent or instrument sales
Travel
• Typically 25–50% travel, depending on the assigned territory.
