The Opportunity:

Electrical Engineering research, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. This role applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities may include: Managing projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision. Coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.

How will you make an impact:

  • The successful candidate will work as an Electrical Design Engineer  for traction transformers and will be responsible for electrical design activities across tender support, order execution, and customer support.
  • Provide tender-stage engineering support by reviewing customer specifications, identifying technical deviations, preparing clarifications, supporting preliminary electrical design inputs, and assisting in technical and commercial alignment.
  • Support order execution by preparing, reviewing, and releasing electrical design deliverables such as electrical calculations, winding data, connection diagrams, rating plates, bill of materials, technical specifications, and manufacturing inputs as per order requirements.
  • Coordinate with production, planning, quality, SCM, testing, project management, and global engineering teams to ensure timely engineering releases and resolution of factory execution queries.
  • Provide customer support by responding to technical queries, supporting customer documentation, participating in technical discussions, addressing comments, and ensuring customer requirements are clearly understood and implemented.
  • Ensure traction transformer electrical design and documentation are aligned with applicable standards, customer specifications, factory capabilities, quality requirements, cost targets, and safety practices.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 to 12 years of relevant experience in electrical design of traction transformers, power transformers, or distribution transformers; experience in traction transformer design will be preferred.
  • Strong understanding of transformer electrical design, including core and winding design, thermal performance, dielectric design, short-circuit withstand, losses, impedance, sound level, and basic transformer mechanical interfaces.
  • Knowledge of relevant transformer standards and customer specifications applicable to traction transformer tenders and orders.
  • Experience with electrical design software, simulation tools, or control and schematic review will be an added advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools.
  • Strong electrical design capability for traction transformers, including design calculations, technical documentation, and design reviews.
  • Ability to analyze customer specifications, identify technical deviations, and prepare clear technical clarifications.
  • Good understanding of engineering release processes, manufacturing support, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Problem-solving mindset with focus on technical issue resolution, design optimization, cost improvement, and continuous improvement.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with factory teams, global engineering teams, and customers.
