Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Software Development Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have profound Cloud/Data technical knowledge, aptitude for logical reasoning and problem-solving skills. As a Staff Software Development Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for enabling a large operational data platform. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a deep understanding of software engineering principles.

As part of the Aetna Transactional Cache Team, you will lead and inspire a high‑performing group of engineers and technical leads to build a next‑generation, strategic platform powering Aetna’s core operational needs. The Staff Software Development Engineer will drive multiple high‑impact AI initiative shaping innovative, business‑focused use cases that elevate both member and provider experiences while delivering measurable enterprise value.
 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate the broader vision, executing the IT strategy in alignment with organizational standards. 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders including architects, application owners, and engineers to define overall strategy, prioritization, and execution. 

  • Establish epics and initiatives that align with strategic goals and support the product roadmap.

  • Develop and maintain roadmaps that align critical business needs with scalable technical solutions.

  • Leverage performance data to create feedback loops that drive continuous insight and improvement.

  • Champion strong product management and agile mindsets by actively communicating team successes and identifying areas for growth.

  • Build and lead high-performing teams capable of overcoming complex technical challenges to solve business-critical problems.

 
Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with data technologies such as Kafka and MongoDB.

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with cloud technologies such as GCP, AWS, and Azure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in software development or architecture and delivering cloud-native data platforms.

  • 7+ years of experience working with Agile, SAFe Agile, and Product SDLC methodologies.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (High School Diploma/GED + 4 years relevant experience).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $236,900.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
