Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Referral Specialist, you will orchestrate patient access to specialized care by expertly managing all referral and authorization processes.Every day, you will proactively obtain clearances for specialty visits, issue referrals for ancillary services (consults, imaging, labs), and secure approvals for medications, DME, home health, and other vital services.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and clear communication to ensure seamless and efficient service delivery for our patients.

  • Resolves, pre-certification, registration and case-related concerns prior to a patients appointment. This includes interacting with patients, insurance carriers and various internal departments
  • Identifies appropriate formularies for patient medication management or vendors for durable medical equipment requests and receives insurance approvals for patients
  • Completes the referral process for a patient's ancillary, consultation, radiology or lab visit.The process includes checking insurance coverage, sending approval and receiving confirmation, scheduling appointments and notifying patients of progress
  • Provides backup support for medical practice duties as required
  • Conveys an image of dignity and trustworthiness
  • Respects the rights, privacy and differences of others

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED General Studies
  • Two (2) years experience in a Medical Office or other healthcare environment
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
  • Familiar with coding
  • Basic Computer skills

Preferred

  • Bi-lingual
  • Familiarity with the referral/authorization process and interacting withinsurance carriers
